Job summary

Abnormal AI is seeking a Software Engineer I for its Data Platform team in the United States. You will help design, build, and operate core components of a scalable data platform, using PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, Redis, Kafka, and more.

You’ll grow technical skills while delivering end-to-end features with guidance from senior engineers. You will contribute to automation, reliability, and performance, and apply cutting-edge GenAI techniques to improve developer and operator experiences.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Solid programming skills in Python, Go, or a similar language.
• Strong fundamentals: data structures, clean code, testing, and debugging.
• Interest in learning AWS, Databricks, and technologies in our stack (databases, streaming, orchestration).
• Curiosity, problem-solving skills, and a willingness to ask questions.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, development, and operation of core components of Abnormal's data platform.
• Build tools and services that help other teams adopt and scale data systems.
• Help automate infrastructure and operations to improve reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Apply GenAI techniques to build smarter developer and operator experiences.
• Collaborate across engineering teams to solve scalability and reliability challenges.
• Take ownership of projects, delivering features end-to-end with guidance from senior engineers.
