Job summary

Google is seeking software engineers for the Kubernetes Networking team to build networking solutions for Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) and edge deployments. The role focuses on distributed systems, high-scale infrastructure, and cloud networking features, with opportunities to work across multiple projects and teams.

Candidates should have strong coding skills, experience in systems/networking, and a product/customer focus. In-person interviews are typically required in the hiring process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
• 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
• Experience in one or more of the following programming languages: C, C++, Python, Go.

Responsibilities

• Write product or system development code.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Design and develop network connectivity solution for hybrid/multi cloud, involving data plane and control plane elements.
• Design and implement new networking features for GDC platforms along with other members of the team.
• Help external GDC customers who hit issues in production clusters.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
• 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
• Experience in one or more of the following programming languages: C, C++, Python, Go.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
• 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with Cloud environments, and overall strong product and customer focus, particularly around how large companies use the Cloud.
• Experience working with the open source community.
• Familiarity with IPv6 and Routing Protocols.
• Knowledge of networking components at kernel-level, and networking concepts (various layers of networking IPv4, IPv6, iptables, L4/L7 load balancing, DNS).

US: $147000 - $210000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
