Job summary

SmithRx is building the next-generation PBM platform. The Engineering team focuses on scalable backend and frontend features, using Go, GraphQL, SQL, React, and JavaScript/TypeScript to deliver real-time insights and a superior customer experience.

The role involves collaboration with stakeholders, architectural design, AWS-based batch processing, thorough testing, and continuous improvement through code reviews and adoption of new AI tools.

Qualifications

• BS or advanced degree in computer science or applicable experience.
• 3–5 years software development experience.
• Experience with Go, Java, C, or C++ (Go a plus).
• Working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience designing scalable solutions; knowledge of design patterns, database design, and testing best practices.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational DBs (schema design, SQL tuning).
• GraphQL, open source APIs, CI/CD, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes experience (a plus).
• Experience using GenAI tools to deliver production software (a plus).

Responsibilities

• Focus on back-end and front-end codebase to develop SmithRx product features using Go, GraphQL, SQL, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node, and Java.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and technical leads to understand requirements and deliver scalable software.
• Provide scope and risk estimates for system and feature builds by creating technical design documentation.
• Apply software development best practices, design patterns, tools and technologies.
• Leverage GraphQL, React, and GORM to extend the platform as needed.
• Utilize AWS technologies (Lambda, Fargate) for job handling and batch processing.
• Ensure code is fully tested with appropriate coverage and well documented.
• Troubleshoot production issues with root cause analysis and mitigation plans.
• Contribute to code reviews and exploring new technologies.
• Seek and share GenAI tools to improve delivery speed and quality.

Job Summary

The Engineering team at SmithRx is developing the next-generation modern pharmacy benefits management (PBM) platform that will change how companies administer and manage pharmacy benefits. Our unified technology platform provides real-time actionable insights that drive cost savings, powers clinical services and results in a brilliant customer experience. A unified technology platform exists nowhere in the pharmacy benefit ecosystem to programmatically solve widespread deficiencies. The result is a PBM delivering unmatched service quality and operational efficiencies that exceed all industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Focus on our back-end and front-end codebase; designing, developing and maintaining SmithRx product features using various languages such as Golang, GraphQL, SQL, React, JavaScript/Typescript, Node, and Java (amongst others), while leveraging full CI and CD to iterate quickly
• Collaborate with stakeholders and technical leads to understand functional and technical requirements to produce high-quality, scalable software and services
• Provide scope and risk estimates for system and feature builds by building technical design documentation
• Apply software development best practices, design patterns, tools and technologies
• Leverage client and server-based frameworks, like GraphQL, React, and GORM, when appropriate to extend the needs of our platform
• Leverage AWS technologies, like Lambda and Fargate, to handle various types of jobs and batch processing
• Ensure that the code is fully tested end-to-end, has the desired level of code coverage, and that the features are well documented
• Troubleshoot production issues by performing triages for issues that arise, assessing the impact, creating and executing a plan for short-term and long-term mitigation, and performing root cause analysis to prevent future occurrence of issues
• Contribute to a collaborative learning culture through code reviews, the exploration of new technologies, and other innovations
• Actively seek out new AI tools and technologies and share them with the team to positively impact overall software delivery speed and quality

Qualifications

• BS or advanced degree in computer science or applicable experience
• 3-5 years experience of software development experience working on software applications
• Solid experience working with a language such as Go, Java, C, or C++ (Go experience is a plus)
• Working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
• Positivity; non-dogmatic, team-first attitude
• Flexibility; someone who is responsive and comfortable with ambiguity
• Experience designing and implementing scalable solutions; an understanding of design patterns, database design, and testing best practices
• Disciplined approach to software design and development and ability to work on features independently (accurately forecast delivery milestones and work with stakeholders to ensure that expectations are met)
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including schema design, SQL tuning, and database monitoring
• Working knowledge of GraphQL, open source APIs, CI and CD pipeline, AWS platform, Docker, and Kubernetes (a plus)
• Experience using GenAI tools to efficiently deliver high-quality production software (a plus)
