Job summary

Sift is seeking an early software engineer to help define the architecture, shape the product, and influence the engineering culture. You will build and maintain full-stack features for our web app and data processing backend, focusing on complex telemetry data and real-time streams.

You will create intuitive UIs for data exploration, implement efficient APIs, and collaborate with data platform and frontend teams. This role offers a chance to impact an evolving platform early in its lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Experience building production applications with modern web/mobile stacks.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL and time-series stores.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain full stack features across web applications and data processing backends for telemetry data.
• Create intuitive user interfaces for data exploration and optimize for large real-time datasets.
• Implement efficient APIs and data access patterns for real-time streaming.

Requirements

• Experience building production applications with technologies like React, NextJS, TypeScript, Go, Rust, and PythonStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailFamiliarity with relational and non-relational databases, e.g. PostgreSQL, Druid, Pinot, Timescale, or similar3+ years of professional experience in full-stack software developmentExperience with technical visualization tools (WebGL, D3.js, Apache ECharts) and time-series dataBackground in scientific computing or technical data visualizationKnowledge of WebAssembly and browser-based computationBuilt and launched side projects with consistent usage trafficExperience building tools for technical users (dashboards, data-editing environments)
