Job summary

Smartsheet is seeking a Java full stack engineer to contribute across the development life cycle, from concept to release, and participate in system architecture discussions.

You will implement new features, maintain APIs, and collaborate with SREs to resolve defects. You will actively use AI tools to improve team efficiency and share learnings with teammates.

Fluency in English is required and you must be legally eligible to work in the US or globally; remote-friendly role with broad impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience with Java Full Stack and React.js.
• Proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and OO design.
• Familiarity with microservice architecture and scalable, HA applications.
• Fluent in English and able to work legally in India or globally.
• Experience with Docker, AWS, Kubernetes is a plus.

You Will:

• Contribute to the entire development life cycle, from concept to release
• Participate in system architecture discussions
• Implement new features and improve the one we have already built
• Maintain existing service API and develop new ones
• Participate in all phases of quality assurance and defect resolution
• Interact with systems engineers to debug infrastructure problems
• Actively use AI tools to improve personal and team efficiency across coding, testing, design, and troubleshooting, exploring AI integration opportunities within team processes and features, and coaching others on effective AI use
• Perform other duties as assigned

You Have:

• Experience with Java Full Stack
• Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.js and CSS pre-processors (front-end engineers)
• Experience with Object Oriented design
• Familiarity of Microservice Architecture
• Experience building scalable, high availability applications
• BSc. or MSc. in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent industry experience
• Legally eligible to work in India on an ongoing basis
• Fluency in English is required

Nice to Have:

• Experience with DynamoDB and other non relational databases
• Experience with relational databases like MySQL
• Experience with AWS, and/or AWS qualifications (AWS Developer, AWS Solution Architect)
• Experience with Docker
• Experience with service orchestration tools e.g. k8s, HashiCorp
• Experience with linux debugging commands like tcpdump and strace
