Job summary

Stripe, Inc. in Seattle, WA seeks a software engineer to design, build, and maintain APIs and services across engineering teams using Ruby, React, and TypeScript.

You will predict performance, collaborate across functions to deliver billing features at scale, and translate business needs into robust technical designs. You will implement tests, improve engineering processes, and mentor teammates while contributing to on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2 years of Software Engineering experience.
• Proficiency with Ruby, React, TypeScript, Java and Golang.
• Experience using SQL for data analysis.
• Experience with API development to support emergency response and debugging across services.
• Experience with latency analysis and system design proposals.
• Experience writing user-facing documentation and technical integration guides; translating business needs into software requirements.

Responsibilities

Design, build, productionize, and maintain APls, services, and systems across Stripe's engineering teams using Ruby, React, Typescript, and other programming languages.

Predict and measure the performance and outcomes of designed systems.

Collaborate with engineers and other cross-functional roles across the company to build new billing features at large-scale to make it easier for businesses to collect and manage their payments.

Analyze user needs, feedback, and product requirements to determine technical specifications and the feasibility of design and implementation, taking cost and time constraints into account.

Implement technical designs through a series of programming tasks while upholding high engineering standards.

Implement unit, functional, and integration tests to prevent bugs and regressions.

Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes ensuring operational excellence and contribute to team's on-call rotation.

Debug and identify the root cause of errors in a complex system across multiple service components.

Provide mentorship and help onboard and spin up new hires for the team.

Who you are

Minimum requirements

Must have a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Human-computer interaction or a related field, plus 2 years of experience in Software Engineering.

Must also have 2 years of experience in each of the following:

Working with Ruby, React, Typescript, Java and Golang;

Using SQL to perform data analysis;

Working with API development to provide emergency response, and debugging production issues across services;

Performing latency analysis;

Designing architecture and system design proposals;

Writing user-facing documentation and technical integration guides; and

Translating business needs into software requirements and designs, and implementing industry standard design patterns.

Salary: $156,800.00 - $235,200.00/yr.

This salary range represents the base salary range for the role and any sales commissions/sales bonuses targets, if applicable, would be in addition to the base salary.

40 hrs/week

50% Telecommuting permitted.
