Job summary

Cosm is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help architect, design and build the systems powering our venues, websites, and displays. You will work across the full stack, collaborating with product and design to deliver cross-platform experiences and scale our live streaming products.

You will mentor teammates, participate in code reviews, contribute to architectural decisions, and explore AI-assisted development tools to improve token efficiency and cost.

Qualifications

• 4-5 years as Front End Engineer
• 4+ years as Full Stack Engineer
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• Expertise with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/Typescript
• Experience with RESTful APIs and gRPC is a plus
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools is desirable
• Passion for video live-streaming, sports or eSports is a plus

Responsibilities

• Design and build front-end and mixed front end and back end applications with an eye towards simplicity, maintainability, performance, and usability.
• Work closely with product and design to develop compelling cross-platform end-to-end experiences across multiple features and products.
• Collaborate with the team to integrate front-end applications with distributed micro-service backends via RESTful APIs and gRPC.
• Automate repetitive and complex tasks by developing and improving tools and processes for daily development, testing, and release management.
• Champion the responsible use of AI in our development workflow, including MCPs integrations with token efficiency and cost.
• Make architectural proposals and decisions to solve complicated problems, contribute in design and product sessions.
• Contribute to high-level strategic decisions withEngineering and Executive teams.
• Mentor and develop talent amongst the development team with open communication.
• Participate in code reviews, helping to set standards & follow best practices.
• Stay on top of industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Push the limits, try new technologies, take calculated risks, swing for the fences

Summary

The software engineering team for Cosm develops technology to deliver best-in-class experiences in both our digital and physical live streaming products. We are looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer with a passion for building applications and services to help architect, design and build the systems that power our venues, websites, and displays. We expect our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities, and to be enthusiastic when taking on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push the technology forward.

Responsibilities

• Design and build front-end and mixed front end and back end applications with an eye towards simplicity, maintainability, performance, and usability.
• Work closely with product and design to develop compelling cross-platform end-to-end experiences across multiple features and products.

• Champion the responsible use of AI in our development workflow, including building internal skills and MCPs (Model Context Protocol) integrations with an eye toward token efficiency and cost.
• Make architectural proposals and decisions to solve complicated problems, contribute and advise in design and product sessions.
• Contribute to high-level strategic decisions with the rest of the Engineering and Executive teams.
• Mentor and develop talent amongst the development team with open and helpful communication.
• Participate in code reviews, helping to set standards & follow best practices.
• Stay on top of industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Push the limits, try new technologies, take calculated risks, swing for the fences and proactively search for the best solutions and ideas in the marketplace.

Experience

• 4-5 years of relevant experience as a Front End Engineer
• 4+ years experience as a Full stack Engineer.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Expertise in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/Typescript.
• Expertise with React, Next.js, Vite.js, TanStack or other modern javascript frameworks.
• Expertise with Redux, Redux Toolkit, React Context, Zustand or other state management.
• Expertise with backend service development utilizing Rust, Node.js (Typescript preferred), Go, Python, Java or Ruby.
• 3+ years experience working with NOSQL and SQL database systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in developing, releasing, and maintaining large-scale software applications.
• Informed opinions on design and library development as an author and a developer but always willing to listen to differing opinions.
• Driven to automate your processes, test continually, and document your work.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools, prompt engineering, or building custom AI tooling
• You’re not afraid of an open, candid, and respectful work environment.
• Passion for video live-streaming, sports or eSports is a plus.

The annualized base salary range for this position in California is $135,000- $145,000. The base salary offered will factor in internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and relevant experience, among other factors.
