Job description

Every major industrial company carries Environmental Obligations: the legal and financial commitments to remediate, restore, and account for the footprint of their operations. These obligations represent billions of dollars of liabilities, span decades, and have historically been managed across spreadsheets, inboxes, and institutional knowledge.

ENFOS is the enterprise system of record that replaces all of that. The world's leading energy, chemical, mining, manufacturing, and industrial companies run their Environmental Obligation programs on our platform.

Our advantage isn't a generic AI model. It's decades of domain expertise, structured enterprise data, and mission-critical workflows that competitors cannot easily replicate. We are profitable, growing quickly, and transforming our platform from a record system into an AI-enabled system of intelligence. If you're excited about building durable enterprise software, solving complex technical problems, and shaping the future of EOM, we'd love to meet you.

About the Role:

ENFOS is hiring a Software Engineer to build and scale high-impact, full-stack features across our Environmental Obligation Management platform. Reporting to a Senior Software Engineer, you will work on scalable, high-performance web applications that global industrial leaders rely on to manage complex environmental obligations.

You will work across the stack, building user interfaces in React, implementing backend logic in Java, and integrating with APIs and databases. You will partner with Product, Design, and Engineering to ship reliable, scalable features that deliver real customer value.

How We Work:

We believe exceptional software is built by engineers who own outcomes, not just tickets.

  • Agile Development: We operate in two-week sprints with clear goals, ownership, and rapid iteration.
  • Code Quality: We prioritize automated testing, code reviews, and clean architecture to ensure long-term maintainability.
  • Modern Toolset: Our stack includes React, Java, GitLab, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines to streamline development and deployment.
  • Engineer Empowerment: We expect developers to take initiative and continuously improve performance, scalability, and user experience.
  • Growth Mindset: We offer mentorship, exposure to system-level thinking, and a clear path to senior ownership and technical leadership.

You will work in small teams across an enterprise SaaS product stack, writing clean, modular, well-documented code. You will improve our solutions in Java EE, structure and build out UI screens, and work directly with our databases and SQL functions while contributing to technical designs and new customer-facing features.

Success means delivering end-to-end product features from UI through database, continuously optimizing API performance, database queries, and backend services for responsiveness and scalability, and strengthening a high-performing engineering culture through code reviews, clean coding practices, and close collaboration with Product, Design, and Engineering.

What You'll Do:
  • Build and maintain full-stack features, developing responsive user interfaces in React and backend services in Java/Spring Boot to support core product functionality.
  • Design, implement, and optimize RESTful APIs that connect frontend components to backend systems with strong performance and scalability.
  • Contribute across the stack, collaborating on frontend UI, backend logic, and database design to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Use modern, AI-assisted development practices to write clean, testable, and maintainable code across frontend and backend.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to turn business needs into user-centric technical solutions.
  • Debug and resolve bugs and performance bottlenecks across the application stack.
  • Continuously improve system performance by optimizing code and database queries for faster page loads, responsiveness, and reliability.
  • Participate in code reviews and engineering best practices to maintain a high standard of quality.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team through knowledge sharing and technical discussions.
  • Commit to continuous learning and grow toward larger technical ownership across the platform.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 2+ years of professional experience in full-stack development
  • Experience with backend development in Java, including Spring Boot, Hibernate, or similar frameworks
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, and ORM tools
  • Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles
  • Experience using Git and CI/CD pipelines in a collaborative development environment
  • Proactive problem-solver with strong attention to detail and a commitment to shipping high-quality code
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning
  • Growth mindset and initiative
  • Team-first mentality
  • Passion for building reliable, user-centric enterprise software
  • Desire to grow into larger technical ownership
How You'll Be Compensated:
  • Salary range in the US: 110,000 - 140,000 with opportunity for discretionary bonus paid annually
  • Stock options granted at time of hire and periodically based on performance
