Job summary

Metron in Reston, VA is seeking a Software Engineer – Frontend Development to design and implement front-end web applications for simulation and optimization software. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams of researchers and software engineers to turn ideas into usable interfaces.

The role requires a BS in CS or related field, strong HTML/CSS skills, and at least 2 years of relevant experience. US citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• Experience with HTML and CSS.
• Familiarity with web application design and front-end development in any frameworks or languages.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• US citizenship required; security investigation and eligibility for access to classified information.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement front‑end web applications for simulation and optimization software that incorporates probabilistic models of physical systems.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Research Scientists, Software Engineers) comprising 2‑20 members.
• Participate throughout the problem‑solving process: concept development, data visualization, algorithm design, prototyping, implementation, demonstration, and deployment.
• Contribute to UI/UX design as well as front‑end development.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• Experience with HTML and CSS.
• Familiarity with web application design and front‑end development in any frameworks or languages.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• US citizenship required; successful candidates will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with Java or Python programming.
• Experience with Spring Boot, Redux, WebGL and/or OpenGL.
• Experience designing and implementing user interfaces.
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimize web pages for security and responsiveness.
• Experience with front‑end testing and mocking frameworks.
• Familiarity with back‑end development, API design, and relational or document databases.

Location

Reston, VA. The selected individual will be expected to report to the Reston office five days a week.
