Job summary

RTX, based in Andover, MA, is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer – Factory Intelligence to build data-driven tools that help our engineering and factory teams understand how products are built and tested.

As a member of the FAST team, you will turn complex manufacturing and test data into insights, support investigations, improve yields, and enable faster, better decisions across production environments.

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent experience with 5+ years in software development.
• Proficiency in at least one language (Python/Java/C#/JavaScript/TypeScript/C).
• Experience building, testing, debugging, and maintaining software applications.
• Ability to collaborate to solve technical problems and deliver software solutions.
• U.S. citizen with ability to obtain/maintain security clearance.

Raytheon’s Data, Analytics, and AI organization is seeking a hands‑on Software Engineer – Factory Intelligence to build applications and data-driven tools that help our engineering and factory teams better understand how products are built and tested.

As a member of the Factory Analysis Software Tools (FAST) team, you will develop software that turns complex manufacturing and test data into meaningful insights for Engineering, Operations, and Quality. The tools you create will support investigations into production issues, reveal sources of process variation, improve test yields, and enable teams to make faster, more informed decisions.

This is a practical, hands‑on development role with a direct connection to real manufacturing challenges. You will collaborate closely with engineers and factory stakeholders to understand their needs, design effective solutions, and see your work put into use across active production environments.

You’ll work across a diverse set of technologies, including web applications, Python‑based data processing, databases, APIs, data visualization, and statistical analysis tools. You do not need to be an expert in all of these areas on day one—we’re looking for a strong software developer who enjoys learning new technologies and solving meaningful technical problems that make a tangible impact.

What You Will Do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain applications that help users explore and understand factory and test data
• Develop data visualization and analytical tools that make complex manufacturing data easier to interpret
• Build Python and other software solutions to transform, standardize, and analyze data from a variety of engineering and test systems
• Develop and integrate applications with relational databases, APIs, and other enterprise systems
• Work directly with engineers, factory personnel, and other stakeholders to understand problems and turn them into effective software solutions
• Troubleshoot software, data, and process issues in production environments
• Contribute to application architecture, technical design, code reviews, and team development practicesLearn the manufacturing and test processes behind the data and use that knowledge to identify opportunities for new capabilities
• Work collaboratively within an Agile software development team to deliver practical solutions to challenging technical problems
• This role provides an opportunity to work across both software engineering and data analytics while building tools that have a direct impact on manufacturing operations.
• This is a hybrid role based in Andover, Massachusetts. Onsite work is typically required 1 to 3 times per month depending on project needs, including work that must be performed in factory or classified environments.
• Up to 10% domestic travel may be required.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a University degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
• Professional software development experience using at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Perl, C, or a similar language
• Experience developing, testing, debugging, and maintaining software applications
• Experience working collaboratively to solve technical problems and deliver software solutions
• U.S. Citizen - The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

• You do not need to have experience in all of the areas below. Experience in one or more would be valuable:
• Python development, particularly for data processing, automation, or analytical applications
• Web application development using frameworks such as Angular, React, or similar technologies
• REST APIs and application integration
• Relational databases and SQL, including Microsoft SQL Server, MariaDB, or other ANSI SQL-based systems
• Database design and software architecture principles
• Data visualization or development of analytical applications
• Statistical analysis or experience with tools such as Minitab, R, JMP, or SAS
• Manufacturing, engineering, test, quality, or other technical data environments
• Statistical process control, Lean manufacturing, or Six Sigma concepts
• Automated testing, source control, CI/CD, or other modern software development practices
• CompTIA Security+ certification or experience working in secure computing environments
• Successful candidates will be curious, collaborative, and comfortable working directly with users to understand their problems. They should enjoy learning unfamiliar systems, working through complex technical issues, and turning loosely defined needs into practical software solutions.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
