Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Owego, NY is seeking a Level 2 Software Engineer to gain hands-on experience across the software lifecycle, turning requirements into reliable software and moving work from development to integration and test.

You will design, develop, and maintain software, analyze requirements, troubleshoot issues, collaborate with hardware and test engineers, and document artifacts while learning new technologies.

Qualifications

• 3+ years related professional experience with an Associates degree (or higher) in related field.
• Experience developing C code for embedded environments.
• Experience with developing and debugging software that controls embedded hardware, firmware, microcontrollers, or FPGAs.
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as WindRiver VxWorks, GreenHills Integrity, LynxOS, FreeRTOS

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years related professional experience with an Associates degree (or higher) in related field.
• Experience developing C code for embedded environments
• Experience with developing and debugging software that controls embedded hardware, firmware, microcontrollers, or FPGAs.
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as WindRiver VxWorks, GreenHills Integrity, LynxOS, FreeRTOS

Desired Skills

• Experience writing device drivers and boot loaders, targeting Intel and PowerPC processors
• Knowledge of hardware communication protocols such as PCIe, SPI, UART, and I2C
• Experience using instrumentation to analyze and debug systems (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, serial console)
• Experience creating and configuring embedded Linux images
• Familiar with full software life‑cycle development, processes, version control, and tools to DO‑178C guidelines
• Experience with Git/GitLab, SonarQube, Fortify, VectorCast, or Atlassian products
• Bachelors degree in a related STEM field

Pay Information

Full‑Time Salary Range: $81100.00 - $150500.00

• Annual short‑term and/or long‑term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
• For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
