Boeing in Oklahoma City is seeking an experienced Software Engineer - Developer to join the B-52J CERP Flight Software team. You will design, develop, and integrate non-embedded software in an agile, collaborative environment.

The role focuses on collecting data from new engines and displaying it to pilots, with responsibilities across requirements, architecture, tools, and process improvement. This position may require shift and security compliance as part of the program.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in ADA and Python programming.
  • 3+ years of experience with RTOS such as VxWorks and Wind River platforms.

The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Software Engineer - Developer (Experienced or Senior) to join the B-52J CERP - Flight Software team located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization.

The B-52J CERP program will provide modern engines and related functions for the B-52 Bomber. The Flight Software team is responsible for providing the software that will collect data from these new engines and display it to the pilots in the cockpit. The successful software engineer selected for this position will design, develop and integrate software in an agile, collaborative environment. This software engineer will also design and develop software tools to aid in the development of flight software. In addition to having strong interpersonal skills, the software engineer should be a self‑motivated problem solver, capable of resolving technical challenges in a clear and concise manner.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced and Senior Level Software Engineers.

Position Responsibilities
  • Designs, develops, tests, and maintains non-embedded software throughout the end-to-end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards
  • Reviews, analyzes, and translates customer requirements into initial design of software products
  • Develops, maintains, enhances and optimizes software products and functionalities for systems integrations
  • Develops, documents and maintains architecture, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software products
  • Debugs and resolve issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products
  • Handles user inquiries, troubleshoots technical issues and user feedback analysis
  • Implements current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to software development
  • Develops, establishes, monitors and improves software processes, tools and key performance metrics that align projects with organizational goals and industry benchmarks
  • Executes and documents software research and development projects
  • Advise on software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations
  • Performs software project management activities and software supplier management functions
  • Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process compliance to project plans and industry standards
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in ADA, Python
  • 3+ years of experience in Real Time Operating System (RTOS), VxWorks, HVP, Wind River
  • 3+ years of experience in Building Docker Images, Gitlab, CI/CD Pipeline, VXWorks Workbench, Git, VSCode Devcontainers
  • 3+ years of experience in SAFE Agile, GitLab
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • Experience with ADA Programming Language preferred
  • 3 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of specification format requirements, guidelines, and change control processes
  • Understanding of relationship between specifications/standards and aircraft/product certification systems
  • Knowledge of host environments, including processors, operating systems and networks. Ability to build, integrate and troubleshoot software components
  • Knowledge of software programming languages and databases and the ability to apply to the software domain. Programming languages encompass higher order languages, auto-coded languages and assembly languages
  • Knowledge of how to derive and allocate requirements (e.g., system, sub-system, software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle
  • Knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies
  • Ability to synthesize software architectures and designs that meet requirements, characteristics and constraints
  • Knowledge of software development processes in compliance with established internal and industry standards, guidelines, and best practices in the development, testing, and deployment of software
  • Knowledge of general and software development and testing tools, capability and usage
  • Examples include compilers, linkers, debuggers, data analysis tools, graphical user interface builders, post processing tools, requirements management tools, and web authoring tools
  • Knowledge of domains, characteristics, constraints and products that require software and influence architecture, requirements, interfaces, designs, and integration/test approaches
  • Domain examples include data processing, ground support, tools and analysis models - examples of characteristics and constraints that impact software include operating systems, fidelity and information processing capacity. Examples of products include aircraft, missiles, airborne/shipboard/space systems/ground-based support systems
  • Knowledge of supplier assessment processes including Preferred Supplier Certification and Work Transfer Process
  • Elements of assessment to include supplier's past performance, business processes, capacity plan, statement of work evaluation, risk mitigation plan, capabilities and lean practices in order to rate supplier viability to support the Boeing company's goals and objectives
  • Ability to control and deliver project deliverables, project accounting and appraisal, and optimize the contribution of the people involved using project management tools
  • Knowledge of implementation, validation, and verification processes, practices, and guidelines to ensure software development quality, performance, and safety

Summary pay range for Experienced Level (Level 3): $118,150.00 - $159,850.00.

Summary pay range for Senior Level (Level 4): $149,600.00 - $202,400.00.
