Job summary

Lyft's Security team is hiring Software Engineers who are passionate about security to help scale and secure services at Lyft. You will work on building and improving detection pipelines, write clean code, and participate in reviews while educating others.

You will join a hybrid in-office team in San Francisco, collaborating across engineering, IT, and security to deliver secure products for drivers and riders.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering or security engineering experience.
• Strong programming experience in a high-level language (bonus points for Python, Go, and shell scripts).
• Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch).
• Exposure to security systems and understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, TLS, DNS).

Responsibilities

• Help establish roadmaps and prioritize projects based on stakeholders’ needs.
• Understand and develop detections related to security events at Lyft.
• Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, and maintainable code.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge.
• Share knowledge by giving brown bags, tech talks, and promoting engineering best practices.
• Support and improve existing detection pipelines.
• Lead large projects from idea to successful execution.
• Unblock, support and communicate with internal partners to achieve results.

Experience

• 4+ years of software engineering or security engineering industry experience
• Solid experience with a high level programming language (bonus points for experience with Python, Go-lang and shell scripts)
• Exposure to Database technologies including NoSQL (e.g., DynamoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, etc.)
• Experience (or deep interest in) working with security systems
• Understanding of computer network security or major computer networking protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, HTTP, TLS, DNS).
• Nice to haves:
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or any other major cloud service provider
  • Experience with data analysis, particularly with large datasets (millions of events)
  • Kubernetes and container technology experience
  • Streaming services (e.g., Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, Amazon Kinesis)

The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is $128,000-$160,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
