Job summary

Orbitus is seeking a production-focused engineer to write code across backend services, AI pipelines, cloud infrastructure and frontend applications, delivering to real users on short cycles.

You will collaborate with the tech lead on Python APIs, AI features, data pipelines, and AWS deployments, focusing on reliability and performance across systems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building production software, ideally in small teams.
• Strong Python skills with async, typing and testing experience.
• Solid React and modern TypeScript, with API integration experience.
• Practical SQL and data modeling, including caching and background jobs.
• Hands-on AWS and container deployments with monitoring and security in mind.
• Experience shipping ML/LLM features and clear written English for async work.

Responsibilities

• Write production code across backend services and AI pipelines.

Job description

Write production code across backend services, AI pipelines, cloud infrastructure and frontend applications, working alongside the tech lead and shipping to real users on short cycles.

What you'll do

• Backend services and REST/GraphQL APIs in Python - FastAPI, Django or Flask - with clean, tested, reviewable code.
• AI features on top of LLMs: prompt and agent orchestration, RAG over client data, embeddings, evaluation, and cost and latency tuning.
• Data pipelines and integrations: ETL jobs, event streams, queues, webhooks and third-party APIs across CRM, telephony, messaging and ERP.
• Relational and vector data models in PostgreSQL, Redis and pgvector, including schema design, indexing and query tuning.
• Cloud infrastructure on AWS: Docker, ECS/EKS or Lambda, S3, RDS and infrastructure as code.
• Observability and reliability: structured logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and hands-on debugging of production incidents.
