Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Software Engineer to join the CDP Foundations team and build core backend capabilities that enable crypto product launches. You will design and ship APIs and services in a microservices environment, prioritizing reliability and a strong developer experience.

You’ll own end-to-end delivery—from implementation to deployment and monitoring—while contributing to code reviews, incident response, and improvements in observability.

• 2+ years of professional experience building and maintaining production backend services in a microservices or distributed systems environment.
• Experience designing and shipping internal or customer-facing APIs with a focus on high-quality developer experience and clean interface design.

As a Software Engineer on the CDP Foundations team within the Developer group, you'll build the core platform capabilities that enable businesses to launch and scale crypto products. The CDP Foundations team's three pods, Portal and Platform Services, Custodial Foundations, and Fully Disclosed Onboarding and Eligibility, own the foundational experiences and primitives spanning the developer portal, shared customer services, custodial accounts and taxes, and KYC/KYB onboarding and eligibility APIs. You'll design and ship the backend services and APIs that make it easier for partners and their customers to securely access Coinbase's crypto infrastructure.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 2+ years of professional experience building and maintaining production backend services in a microservices or distributed systems environment
• Experience designing and shipping internal or customer-facing APIs with a focus on high-quality developer experience and clean interface design
• Familiarity deploying and testing in microservice ecosystems, including structured observability and monitoring tooling
• Proven ability to communicate technical trade-offs clearly in writing and in live discussions with cross-functional partners
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
• Demonstrates the ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots (e.g., LibreChat, Gemini, Glean) in daily workflows, continuously learn as tools evolve, and apply human‑in‑the‑loop practices to deliver business‑ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in efficiency, cost, and quality.

Pay Transparency Notice:

Base salary varies by location (see range below). Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).

Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus): $152,405 — $179,300 USD
