Job summary

Amazon EMR is seeking a Software Development Engineer to help shape the next generation of big data processing on AWS. You will design and build scalable systems for large-scale data workloads, collaborating with teams to deliver features with reliability and performance.

The role requires strong coding skills, knowledge of distributed systems, and a customer-obsessed mindset. You will contribute to core EMR services and work with open source projects like Hadoop, Spark, and Presto.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• 1+ years of contributing to new and current systems architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) experience

Responsibilities

• Designing and building next-generation technologies for EMR to run large-scale data processing workloads.
• Work on complex problems in distributed systems and query engines.
• Translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design.
• Deliver systems and features with top-notch quality, on time.
• Own the software development process end-to-end, including requirements, design, planning, implementation, testing, deployment, and operation of production EMR systems.
