The Home Depot is seeking a Software Engineer to help design, build, deploy, and support production applications used by customers and associates.

You will join a dynamic team, grow technical and leadership skills, and contribute to product configuration, security, resilience, and performance tuning. Some exposure to cloud-based, event-driven systems is expected.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of relevant work experience.
• Proficiency in an object-oriented language (preferably Java).
• Experience with event-driven architectures and message queuing/streaming platforms (Google Cloud Pub/Sub).
• Experience with NoSQL databases, particularly Apache Cassandra, in high-throughput environments.
• Experience querying, analyzing, and working with large datasets using BigQuery (BQ) or SQL databases.
• Hands-on experience building, managing, and maintaining observability, metrics, and alerting systems (Prometheus/Grafana).
• Familiarity with modern AI developer tools (e.g., Claude, LLM-based coding assistants).
• Experience in microservice-based architecture and cloud computing techniques (GCP preferred).
• Experience in CI/CD tools and automated deployment pipelines.
• Experience with modern debugging and root cause analysis techniques.
• Exposure to unit, functional, destructive, and performance testing.

The Software Engineer is responsible for assisting in developing and designing a product that Home Depot customers and associates will love. As a Software Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team with engineers of all experience levels who help each other build and grow technical and leadership skills while creating, deploying, and supporting production applications. In addition, Software Engineers may be involved in product configuration, security, resilience, performance tuning and production monitoring.

Responsibilities

• 60% Delivers and Executes - Assists in developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining software; Consistently helps the team achieve results, even under tough circumstances
• ~20% Plans and Aligns - Builds partnerships and works collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives; Collaborates with other team members in agile processes; This position typically reports to Software Engineer Manager or Sr.
• Travel Requirements: No travel required.

Requirements

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
