Job summary

Maisa is hiring a backend-focused software engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable services in Go and Python within a microservices architecture deployed on Kubernetes.

You will own features end-to-end, work closely with clients and cross-functional teams to translate requirements into reliable solutions, and help raise the technical bar across the team. Fully remote with optional Europe offices.

Qualifications

• 3-7+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend focus.
• Production experience with Go and Python.
• Strong understanding of microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience with Kafka or similar message queue systems.
• Familiarity with Redis and MongoDB.
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerised services in production.
• Comfortable with AWS and CI/CD pipelines.

About the role

What you'll do

What we're looking for

• 3-7+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend focus
• Production experience with Go and Python — we primarily use Go, but if your Go experience is limited you can ramp up
• Strong understanding of microservices and distributed systems
• Experience with Kafka or similar message queue systems
• Familiarity with Redis (or equivalent in-memory data stores) and MongoDB
• Experience working with Kubernetes and containerised services in production
• Comfortable with AWS and GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment with high ownership
• Strong communication skills — you'll be working closely with clients and cross-functional teams
• Genuine curiosity about AI and how it's reshaping how products are built

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with AI/ML systems, LLM integration, or agentic workflows
• Exposure to vector databases or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
• Experience in an early-stage or scaling startup
• Background in security architecture or SRE practices

Location

Fully remote. We have offices in Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia - visiting is entirely optional.
