Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is hiring a software infrastructure engineer in the Seattle area. The role focuses on maintaining scalable, asynchronous infrastructure, improving reliability, and automating operations across cloud environments.

Requires 5+ years in software development, automation, and systems engineering with Go or Python, and experience with AWS/GCP/Azure. Hybrid work model with in-office presence 3 days per week.

  • Balance feature speed and reliability with service-level objectives.
  • Operate and improve infrastructure using industry best practices and tools.
  • Participate in design reviews, platform management and capacity planning with cross-functional teams.
  • Document infrastructure operations and automate repetitive tasks where possible.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and analyze metrics from operating systems, control planes, and applications to assist in fault detection and performance enhancement
  • Design, develop and deploy tooling and systems that continually improve the reliability, scalability and efficiency of our platform
  • Balance feature development speed and reliability with service-level objectives
  • Operate and improve our Infrastructure using industry best practices and tools
  • Participate in design and production readiness reviews, platform management and capacity planning ceremonies with cross-functional teams
  • Document Infrastructure operations process and insights, identify repeatable actions and ruthlessly automate repetitive tasks
  • Participate in our teams on-call rotations, respond to incidents and support other teams mitigate customer impacting events
Experience:
  • 5+ years experience working on teams responsible for software development, automation and systems engineering
  • Experience building large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks. Knowledge with SQS, Kafka and Kinesis is a bonus.
  • Experience developing in Go, Python, or other object-oriented programming languages
  • Experience working with cloud-based environments such as AWS/GCP/Azure
  • Take pride in reducing technical debt; you pay attention to small details, and you value keeping code/configuration clean and maintainable.

The expected base pay range for this position in the Seattle area is $117,760 - $147,200. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
