Job summary

Base is building a next‑generation power company that deploys distributed batteries to transform today’s grid. As a Software Engineer on the Markets team, you’ll ship production decision infrastructure for real‑time dispatch and long‑term market participation.

You’ll work across geographies to expand coverage, advance ML methods like model‑predictive control, and improve observability while delivering backtest automation and reliable releases.

Qualifications

• AI/ML experience and HPC infrastructure
• Cloud experience with major providers (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• MLOps and observability/versioning
• Interest in applied math and ML methods
• Decision-making under uncertainty for stateful systems
• Ownership mindset and problem ownership

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain simulators, models, and trading strategies for battery control and market participation.
• Collaborate with utilities, fleet, and market teams to enable participation across geographies.
• Automate backtests and release processes to avoid regressions in energy arbitrage policy.
• Build monitoring, alerting, and reporting for automated decision processes.
• Improve battery operation policies and develop ML-based methods for automation.
