Job summary

Real Time Consulting is seeking a Software Engineer - Aircraft Surveillance Systems in Phoenix, AZ, to develop software for aircraft surveillance systems in accordance with DO-178 lifecycle. The role involves creating software requirements, code, and verification test cases for complex systems.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field and 5+ years of aerospace engineering experience, with strong skills in C/C++.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical/Computer/Aerospace Engineering.
  • At least 5 years aerospace engineering experience.
  • Experience with DO-178 lifecycle processes.
  • Ability to translate requirements to C/C++ language code.
  • Experience with test case development and verification procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software requirements, code, and verification tests per DO-178 lifecycle.
  • Capture and manage requirements using appropriate tools.
  • Translate software requirements to C/C++ language code.
  • Create detailed design documents and verification procedures.
  • Collaborate with remote team members and adapt to customer schedules.

JOB TITLE: Software Engineer - Aircraft Surveillance Systems

ABOUT THE JOB:

This position is responsible for software development activities for aircraft surveillance systems in accordance with DO-178 lifecycle. Activities include development of software requirements, software code, and software verification test cases and procedures.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical/Computer/Aerospace Engineering
  • 5+ years of Aerospace Engineering experience
  • Knowledge of DO-178 Full Lifecycle Development process and its application in the development of complex systems software
  • Experience with requirements capture and management, and associated tools
  • Experience translating software requirements to C/C++ language code
  • Experience in development of detailed design documents
  • Experience translating software requirements to software verification test cases
  • Experience developing software verification test procedures
  • Familiar with Software Change Request (SCR) processes and tools
  • Familiar with software configuration management processes and tools
  • Positive Attitude
  • Strong initiative and decision‑making skills
  • Ability to multiplex between tasks
  • Ability to interpret high level requirements that may not be completely clear and make good judgements on intent and continuing forward progress rather than needing everything to be 100% accurate and complete
  • Ability to quickly come up the learning curve and determine how to set up the test environment (Validation Facility)
  • Experience working with remote team members
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Flexibility to match and occasionally adapt work hours to the Customers schedule
  • Flexibility to accommodate peaks in workload to meet milestones

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • TCAS, TAWS, ADS-B Out, or similar product experience
