Job summary

Lightspeed Systems in Austin, TX is hiring a Software Engineer who uses AI tooling to ship cloud-based services. This hands-on role focuses on building scalable APIs, services, and integrations while maintaining quality and security.

You will work in a hybrid setup in South Austin, collaborate across teams, and continuously improve performance and observability. The ideal candidate has 3–6 years shipping production software and experience with RESTful APIs, Docker, CI/CD, and cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• 3-6 years of experience shipping production software.
• Experience building or contributing to cloud-based applications (AWS, Azure, GCP, or similar).
• Understanding of service-based or microservices architectures.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL).
• Experience with Docker (or similar), CI/CD pipelines, and Git.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

We’re looking for engineers who think differently about how software gets built. Our Product Development team is growing, and we’re hiring a Software Engineer who actively uses modern AI tooling and agents as part of their real development. This isn’t a “prompt engineering” role — it’s a hands‑on engineering role for someone who understands how cloud systems work and uses AI tools to ship faster without compromising quality.

NOTE: This is a hybrid role located in South Austin (near Dripping Springs). Sponsorship is not available for this position.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• Design and implement scalable services in a cloud environment

• Have experimented with running multiple agents or workflows in parallel
• Understand when not to rely on AI
• Be thoughtful about code quality, security, and edge cases

We’re interested in how you think about leverage, not just how fast you type.

Bonus Points

• Experience working on high‑availability SaaS platforms
• Familiarity with messaging systems (Kafka or similar)
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code
• Exposure to observability tools (monitoring, tracing, alerting)
• Experience integrating AI services or APIs into applications
