Job summary

Boeing Precision Engagement Systems in St. Charles, MO seeks Real-Time Software Engineers from Associate to Experienced levels to develop embedded software for defense systems.

You will work on Operational Flight Programs for precision-guided weapons on military platforms, with opportunities to impact national security. Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s in engineering or CS, real-time embedded experience, and skills in Ada/C/C++, Python or C#, and Git, plus readiness for a U.S.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver Operational Flight Program software.
  • Participate in all Agile lifecycle phases from planning to deployment.
  • Develop high-quality real-time embedded software in Ada/C/C++.
  • Test components and assist system-level testing for performance verification.
  • Troubleshoot defects and support deployment and automation efforts.
  • Engage with customers to gather requirements and provide technical support.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and adoption of new technologies.

About The Role

We are seeking highly motivated and skilled Real-Time Software Engineers, ranging from Associate to Experienced levels, to join our Boeing Precision Engagement Systems organization based in St. Charles, MO. This role involves developing, integrating, testing, and delivering complex real-time embedded software solutions that support critical defense systems. The successful candidate will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to design and implement operational flight programming for precision-guided weapons, including direct attack weapons and cruise missiles deployed on military aircraft and ground platforms. The role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to national security and work on projects with a global impact, supporting the defense of the United States and allied nations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of educational background and practical experience in software development. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related fields. Experience in real-time embedded software development, proficiency in programming languages such as Ada, C, or C++, and familiarity with object-oriented principles are essential. Candidates must also be able to obtain a U.S. secret security clearance and demonstrate strong teamwork and communication skills. Preferred qualifications include additional years of experience, active U.S. secret clearance, experience with Python or C#, and familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to create and implement Operational Flight Program (OFP) software solutions aligned with mission requirements.
  • Participate actively in all phases of the software development lifecycle within an Agile development environment, including planning, design, coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Develop high-quality, reliable real-time embedded software using Ada, C, and C++, adhering to industry best practices and safety standards.
  • Conduct thorough testing of software components and assist in system-level testing to verify correct functionality and performance.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot software defects, providing timely resolutions to ensure system stability and performance.
  • Develop and enhance support tools, automation scripts, and configuration management processes to streamline development and deployment workflows.
  • Engage with customers, including the United States Air Force and Navy, to gather requirements, provide technical support, and ensure software solutions meet operational needs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, adopting new technologies and methodologies to enhance software quality and efficiency.
