Job summary

OCLC in Dublin, Ohio, is seeking a Software Engineer for the Access Checker project, a green-field service handling high-throughput link harvesting and evaluation. You will design, implement, test, and support Java/Spring components in a production-grade platform, collaborating with a distributed team to deliver scalable, reliable software.

The role emphasizes AI-assisted development, ML/LLMs usage for accuracy and efficiency, code quality, tests, and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer science or related field.
• 2–4 years of production-quality software experience.
• Strong Java/Spring skills with OO design, testing, debugging, and performance considerations.
• Experience developing and integrating RESTful services or APIs.
• Experience with relational databases and data-driven apps.
• Ability to work independently on tasks within a distributed team.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience using AI tools/frameworks as part of software development.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and support software components for the Access Checker system.
• Develop new features for a high-throughput link-harvesting and evaluation pipeline.
• Write clean, maintainable Java/Spring code and contribute to production services.
• Investigate, debug, and resolve performance, reliability, and integration issues.
• Collaborate with other OCLC systems to ensure scalable, efficient solutions.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and problem-solving sessions.
• Contribute to code quality standards including testability, observability, and operations readiness.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve evaluation accuracy and efficiency.
