Role Summary

The Netflix Ads organization builds sophisticated advertising systems. The Creative Studio team owns the end‑to‑end experience advertisers use to build, preview and approve their creative assets. This role is about defining and building the highly available, scalable backend services and APIs that power those tools, advancing GenAI‑format innovation and delivering massive scale, speed and sophistication.

Responsibilities

• Set architectural direction for backend services, APIs, data pipelines and GenAI integration.
• Design and implement highly available, scalable microservices with clean API contracts (REST/gRPC).
• Build robust asynchronous processing, monitoring and observability for large‑scale systems.
• Collaborate with product, design, partner engineering and data science teams to translate business needs into reliable, efficient technical solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers, elevate the team’s technical standards through code reviews, design documentation and hands‑on execution.
• Lead the integration of generative AI models, machine learning platforms and creative workflow pipelines.
• Drive alignment and continuous improvement in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.

Qualifications & Skills

• 9+ years of experience designing, building, and operating highly available, scalable and performant backend services in production.
• Deep expertise in backend engineering, including microservices architecture, database and data modeling, and cloud infrastructure.
• Proficiency in a backend language such as Java, Go, Python or similar.
• Strong history of writing production‑quality, well‑tested, maintainable code and API design.
• Large‑scale system design skills with a focus on reliability, efficiency and scale.
• Experience designing and implementing backend APIs, data pipelines and services that integrate with complex systems, including Generative AI models and machine learning platforms.
• Track record of tackling complex, ambiguous technical problems and developing pragmatic, long‑term solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to raise the technical bar of a team through code reviews, design docs, and execution, and to mentor and grow other engineers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• History of driving alignment across cross‑functional teams (Product Management, Design, partner Engineering) to deliver ambiguous, dense roadmaps.
• Ability to succeed in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment while handling multiple priorities effectively.

Nice to Haves

• Prior experience building tools for digital advertising, especially knowledge in ad creatives, creative management or campaign‑building platforms.
• Familiarity with creative lifecycle management, asset libraries, creative building workflows and pipeline development.
• Experience building backend services or interfaces for machine learning applications or GenAI workflows in ad review, auto‑assembly or creative generation systems.
• Understanding of the Connected TV (CTV) advertising space and its unique constraints and formats.

Compensation & Benefits

The compensation structure for this role is solely an annual salary ranging from $499,000.00 to $820,000.00.
