M.C. Dean is seeking a Software Engineer 4 to join the Security and Electronic Systems (SES) unit in Tysons, VA.

You will help design, develop, and integrate secure software across data centers, access controls, video, and IT systems for federal, local, and commercial clients. Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in related programs, proficiency in Python and front-end/C#/.NET, and experience delivering scalable, secure software with RESTful APIs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with 7+ years of relevant experience in security software/IT solutions.
• Strong Python experience including design of maintainable apps, services, or automation tools.
• Hands-on experience with Angular and TypeScript front-end development or C#/.NET development.
• Experience designing software components and explaining architectural choices to stakeholders.
• Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs, services, databases, and web apps.
• Solid understanding of OO design, data structures, asynchronous processing, and common design patterns.
• Experience with Git-based source control, automated testing, debugging, and CI practices.
• Ability to work across disciplines, learn unfamiliar systems, and solve complex integration problems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to create technical documentation.
• Understanding of secure software development practices and post-deployment support.

We are seeking a Software Engineer 4 to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business Unit. As part of (SES) Strategic Business Unit you will be part of a team that designs, engineers, integrates, operates and maintains electronic security services inclusive of intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio visual, it systems, perimeter defense and command and control systems for federal, local and commercial customers across high‑growth markets.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the analysis, evaluation, engineering, and implementation of system improvements, optimization, and deployments.
• Develop and implement technology and solution roadmaps to meet customer strategic goals and mission priorities.
• Develop and implement designs for large, complex multi‑site data center infrastructure and virtualized environment solutions.
• Document designs, and changes to data center infrastructure environments including physical/logical drawings, engineering design plans, implementation plans, transition plans, test plans, and failover plans.
• Implement, test, and operate large complex data center and virtualized compute, storage, and network environments.
• Research, prototype, and develop emerging technologies by working closely with industry partners and OEMs to implement the latest and best-in-bread capabilities to meet the customers emerging needs.

Qualifications

Clearance/Citizen Type:Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; ability to obtain a Public Trust is required.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required with 7+ years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity. with the provision of SE services for physical security system and IT solutions.
• Strong professional experience with Python, including the design of maintainable applications, services, or automation tools.
• Hands‑on experience with Angular and TypeScript front‑end development or C#/.NET development.
• Demonstrated experience designing software components or subsystems and explaining architectural choices, constraints, interfaces, and tradeoffs to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs, services, databases, and web applications.
• Solid understanding of object‑oriented design, data structures, asynchronous processing, error handling, and common software design patterns.
• Experience with Git‑based source control, peer review, automated testing, debugging, and continuous integration practices.
• Ability to work across disciplines, learn unfamiliar systems, and solve ambiguous integration problems with limited documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear technical documentation and provide constructive technical guidance.
• Understanding of secure software development practices and experience supporting software after deployment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional experience with all three core technologies: Python, Angular and TypeScript, and C# and .NET.
• Experience integrating electronic security, physical security, industrial control, building automation, audiovisual, network, or other cyber‑physical systems.
• Experience extending or integrating commercial software products through vendor APIs, SDKs, databases, or documented interface protocols.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, message brokers, event‑driven architectures, distributed systems, or microservices.
• Experience with containers, infrastructure as code, automated deployment, and cloud or hybrid environments such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Experience designing for disconnected, restricted, or security‑controlled operating environments.
• Familiarity with observability practices, including structured logging, metrics, health checks, alerting, and production troubleshooting.
• Experience working in Agile or iterative product‑development teams and helping less‑experienced engineers improve their technical skills.
• Experience delivering software used by field technicians, system operators, or engineering teams in mission‑critical environments.

Pay Range

USD $125,120.00 - USD $172,040.00 /Yr.
