Job summary

Akina, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer 3 in Columbia, Maryland. This senior role focuses on Python and Terraform to build AWS infrastructure, with TS/SCI - Poly clearance. You will lead platform-team initiatives, drive AI-driven workflows, and ensure secure, compliant systems in a dynamic environment.

You will design complex architectures, deploy large-scale government-aligned infrastructure, and mentor others while collaborating with multiple teams to deliver mission-critical software.

Responsibilities

Description:

Step into a leadership-oriented role on our Platform Team, where you will drive the evolution of our infrastructure architecture and AI-driven workflows. You will serve as a key partner to infrastructure owners, taking ownership of complex tasks to enhance performance, metrics tracking, system health, and designing systems that run mission software. Our team is pioneering the integration of agentic AI into the developer lifecycle, creating software that drives development workflows, enriches data, and enables our partners to focus on rapid development of mission capabilities. You will work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to pivot quickly and professionally as requirements evolve. We seek a senior engineer who can navigate diverse products, provide mentorship, and ensure our systems remain secure and compliant.

• Design complex systems and architecture improvements to support mission goals and optimize infrastructure components.

Position Required Skills:

• Experience with Kubernetes and Rancher at an architectural and organizational level.
• Knowledge of advanced Python development for both application and systems engineering
• Moderate to high experience with Linux development and deep troubleshooting in linux workspaces.
• Knowledge of advanced Git workflows and enterprise-scale CI/CD architecture.
• Experience with system design and the ability to lead technical initiatives with high autonomy.
• Usage of AI to design, create, and implement robust and complex software/architecture.

Nice to Haves

• Knowledge of Elasticsearch for complex data indexing and searching.
• Experience with AWS architecture design or certifications.
• Knowledge of certificate management at high scale.
• Experience in creating and managing Networking interface architecture.

SWE3 Qualifications:

A minimum of twelve (12) years of experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.

Salary Range: $241k-$295k (Annually)

The range displayed above is a likely salary range for this position. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possible contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
