Job summary

Akina, Inc seeks a senior ML-focused software engineer with strong MLOps experience to join our data science team in Annapolis Junction, MD. The role emphasizes building and deploying ML models, working with Python-based tooling, and integrating with cloud services.

Qualifications include extensive Python/Java/JavaScript experience, hands-on MLOps, and experience with modern data stacks and distributed processing systems. Hybrid telework is offered; relocation assistance negotiable.

Qualifications

• Over the last ten years, a minimum of seven years experience combined programming with Java, C++, or Python.
• Over the last seven years, a minimum of five years experience designing and developing applications in Windows or UNIX/Linux environments.
• Over the last three years, a minimum of one year of experience using database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or equivalent.
• Over the last three years, a minimum of one year of experience using distributed batch- or stream-processing solutions such as Spark, Flink, Beam, or Databricks.
• Over the last three years, a minimum of one year experience with distributed file or object storage such as S3, Azure Data Lake, etc.
• Over the last three years, a minimum of one year experience with object-oriented design and analysis.
• Within the past two years, six months development experience with Kubernetes and cloud services (AWS/Azure/Google).
• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline; substitutions allowed as described.

Within the last three (3) years, a minimum of one (1) year of experience using distributed batch- or stream-processing solutions such as Ray, Apache Spark, Apache Flink, Apache Beam, Databricks, cloud-native data-processing services, or equivalent technologies.

Within the last three (3) years, a minimum of one (1) year of experience using distributed file or object storage systems such as HDFS, Amazon S3, Azure Data Lake Storage, Google Cloud Storage, or equivalent technologies.

Within the last three (3) years, a minimum of one (1) year experience with requirements analysis and design for one (1) or more object-oriented systems

Within the past two (2) years, six (6) months development experience with Kubernetes, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Computing Services

A bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline; an associate's degree in computer science or related discipline and two (2) years programming experience or five (5) years programming experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree

Salary Range

$231k-$282k (Annually)

The range displayed above is a likely salary range for this position. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possible contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

Benefits

We offer a generous compensation package that includes 24 days PTO accrued annually and 11 federal holidays. Our 401k is 100% vested on your start date and the company makes a direct contribution worth 10% of your salary. Akina covers 100% of healthcare costs for employees and 50% toward dependents.
