Job summary

MidAmerican Energy Company seeks an experienced Software Engineer 3 who designs, builds, and supports Oracle-based middleware and integrations. You will drive automation, improve reliability, and oversee complex Oracle projects with security, performance, and interoperability in mind.

You will mentor junior staff, collaborate across IT, and contribute to capacity planning and observability initiatives while aligning with business goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or related field.
• 6 years of experience designing, developing, integrating and installing Oracle middleware solutions.
• 3 years of experience with security, IAM integrations, and certificate management.
• 2 years of experience with Git/GitHub.
• 1 year of experience with Oracle Fusion; Kubernetes and Docker.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Oracle middleware and integration solutions.
• Implement monitoring dashboards, alerts, and logging for observability.
• Lead small to mid-sized Oracle projects as senior contributor.

Responsibilities

The Software Engineer 3: Architects, designs, codes, tests, documents, implements, and maintains complex applications, integration components, application interfaces, scripts, and/or automation solutions. This role supports both development and operational functions by performing day‑to‑day middleware administration, troubleshooting, patching, performance tuning, and configuration management while identifying opportunities to create automation to improve reliability and efficiency. In addition to optimizing system performance through capacity analysis, tuning activities, and identification of constraints, the engineer ensures enterprise‑grade observability by implementing and maintaining monitoring dashboards, alerts, and logging strategies that enhance visibility across distributed systems. Provides technical support and root‑cause analysis for middleware and application issues, implements upgrades and enhancements, and collaborates with vendors to evaluate product quality and compatibility. Acting as a senior contributor or technical lead on small to mid‑sized initiatives, this position provides leadership on highly complex Oracle projects related to new systems, architectures, and integration capabilities aligned with business goals. Responsibilities include conducting system analysis, participating in design and code reviews, enhancing existing systems, supporting stakeholders and application teams, and ensuring that all middleware and automation solutions meet performance, security, and interoperability standards. Serves as a subject‑matter expert, consulting with stakeholders on integration strategy, reliability engineering, and technology improvements, and works across IT teams to identify deficiencies, drive process improvements, and contribute to planning, documentation, and the continuous enhancement of enterprise middleware environments. Mentor and support junior team members.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field

Specific skills or other requirements:

6 years of experience with: designing, developing, integrating and installing Oracle business software applications, automation tooling, and enterprise middleware solutions; Oracle middleware technologies, including Oracle Integration Cloud, Oracle SOA Suite, WebLogic Server, and/or Oracle Managed File Transfer; developing and supporting enterprise integrations, including messaging, orchestration, file‑based flows, and middleware‑driven automation; Python, Bash, Shell Scripting, and/or PowerShell; Oracle databases; and SQL and PL/SQL.

3 years of experience with: implementing security and access controls, including RBAC/LBAC models, certificate lifecycle management, and PGP/GPG encryption and key management; OEM, SolarWinds, Splunk, and/or Grafana; Linux environment administration; supporting and troubleshooting IAM solutions across Oracle IDCS, OCI‑IAM, Azure SSO, and enterprise identity providers using SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, and Basic authentication; OCI, Microsoft Azure, or AWS; DevOps; CI/CD pipeline design, automated testing, artifact management, and deployment automation.

2 years of experience with Git/GitHub.

1 year of experience with: Oracle Fusion; and Kubernetes, Nutanix NKE, or Docker.

Salary Range: $141,232 to $141,232
