Job summary

ComPsych Corporation is modernizing its technology—building customer-facing web and mobile experiences, a unified design system, and AI-powered capabilities across products. This role focuses on hands-on system design and shaping engineering practices with Product and Design teams.

You will own a feature end-to-end, guiding its design, build, and production behavior. Expect to use AI tools for code and tests, validate outputs, and ensure robust releases through the CI/CD pipeline.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of full stack software development experience.
• Experience building production services in modern languages (Java, Python, C#, Kotlin, or Go).
• Experience shipping code to cloud environments (AWS or Azure) and working with containers.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and own a feature end-to-end from conception to production.
• Direct implementation using AI-assisted code generation, with hands-on debugging as needed.
• Own testing decisions and ensure coverage with unit and integration tests.
• Review code with rigor and accountability before shipping.
• Operate and respond in production through CI/CD pipelines and DevOps collaboration.

About the Role

We’remodernizing how ComPsych builds technology — new customer-facing web and mobile experiences, a unified design system, and AI-powered capabilities across our products. That means raising the engineering bar for how we design, build, and operatsoftware, with Engineering, Product, and Design working togetherend to end.

We’relooking for a Software Engineer who has hands-on experience with modern, AI-led development practices and wants to help shape how our engineering organization builds software going forward.This is a high-leverage role:you’llspend more time on system design, task decomposition, and technical direction than on writing code line-by-line.You’lluse AI tools to generate code, automated tests, and first-pass reviews, then apply your own judgment tovalidateand refine that output before it ships.

What You'll Do

You own a well-scoped feature orcomponentend to end — design, build, test, and how it behaves in production.

• Plan and design within your scope. You translate requirements into a clear plan and specs an AI agent can execute against, working with Product and Design to clarifywhat'sambiguous rather than waiting for someone to resolve it.

• Direct implementation rather than writing it line by line. Break the work into tasks, write the specs, and let AI agents build — and go hands-on in the code when debugging, unfamiliar territory, or a tricky edge case calls for it.

• Own testing as a design decision. Decide what needs coverage, direct AI to build the tests, and validate that they actually provewhat they claim.

• Review everything with the same rigor, regardless ofauthor. You catch the assumptions AIwon'tflag on its own, and you'reaccountable for what ships.

• Own yourfeaturein production. You deploy through your team's CI/CD pipeline, partner with DevOps rather than treat deployment as someone else's job, and you'rethe one who responds — and rolls back — when something breaks.

What We're Looking For

• You write production services in a modern language such as Java, Python, C#, Kotlin, or Go, and can pick up ours quickly.

• You build APIs and datamodelsother codedependson — REST contracts, request and response validation, authentication, schema design, indexes, migrations, and SQL that holds up on real volume.
• You must have 2 + years of full stack software development experience.

• You ship and operate your own code in the cloud (AWS or Azure) — containers and CI/CDyoucan debug when the build or the deploy is what’s broken, plus on-call experience diagnosing a live issue from logs, metrics, and traces.

• You write real tests, not coverage — unit and integration, with a view on which belongs where and what a testactually proves.

• You write secure code by default — authorization checks, input validation, secrets handling, least privilege, and no PHI in logs.

• You reason well about systems, data, and tradeoffs. You can sketch how whatyou'rebuilding fits together, spot whereit'slikely to fail, and think about who else is affected if it does.

• Agentic AI is your primary development surface, and you catch what it gets subtly wrong. Not occasional autocomplete, not a hunch —you'veshipped production code this way and can point to what you caught before it shipped.

Bonus: LLM application engineering (RAG, retrieval quality, evals, LLM observability), or modern TypeScript frontend work against a design system.

• The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $175,000 USD. The base salary range represents the anticipated low end and high end of the range for this position. The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to previous experience, education, pay market/geography, and scheduled hours.
