Job summary

KBR Careers is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain secure software applications. This role requires a Master’s degree, 12+ years of experience, active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, and hands-on work across Windows, Linux, and AWS environments.

You will work on Java, Python, JavaScript, Angular, and Hibernate stacks, build CI/CD pipelines, and contribute to mission-critical solutions on-site with a collaborative team.

Qualifications

  • Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI with polygraph.
  • Operating Environments: Windows, Linux, AWS, Tomcat, Oracle, FidOS.
  • Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 12 years in software engineering/IT.
  • Equivalency: Bachelor’s with 2 years specialized experience or 6 years without degree.
  • Demonstrated experience with Java, Python, JavaScript, Angular, HTML, SQL, Hibernate.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools including Git and Jenkins; build tools like Gradle or Maven.
  • Experience with unit/integration testing, debugging, performance optimization; databases and data analytics tools.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain full-stack applications using Java, Python, Angular, HTML, SQL, Hibernate.
  • Develop and integrate services, databases, UIs, and data processing across Windows and Linux.
  • Build and improve CI/CD pipelines using Git, Gradle, Maven, Jenkins.
  • Develop and deploy AWS cloud-based solutions (EC2, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, Auto Scaling).
  • Perform unit, integration, regression, and system testing for quality, security, and performance.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across application, database, integration, and infrastructure layers.
  • Collaborate with technical and mission teams to document designs and deliver production-ready capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain full-stack software applications using Java, Python, JavaScript, Angular, HTML, SQL, and Hibernate

  • Collaborate with technical and mission teams to understand requirements, recommend solutions, document software designs, and deliver production-ready capabilities

  • Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related scientific or technical discipline
  • Experience: Minimum of 12 years of relevant software engineering or information technology experience
  • Education Equivalency: Bachelor’s degree with two additional years of specialized experience, or six additional years of specialized experience in place of a college degree
  • Demonstrated experience developing software using Java, Python, JavaScript, Angular, HTML, SQL, and Hibernate
  • Experience with continuous integration and delivery tools, including Git and Jenkins, and build tools such as Gradle or Maven
  • Experience with unit and integration testing, software debugging, performance optimization, relational and non-relational databases, and data engineering or analytics tools
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience deploying and maintaining applications using Tomcat, Oracle, Windows, Linux, and AWS
  • Experience with AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, and Auto Scaling
  • Experience with Elasticsearch and large-scale search, data indexing, or analytics solutions
  • Experience with supporting technologies such as Puppet, Nexus, SQL Developer, and Eclipse
  • Experience designing secure, scalable, and highly available applications in classified or mission-critical environments
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar technologies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams
Basic Compensation:

Basic Compensation: $205,500 to $251,200 annual salary This range is for the Virginia area only The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
