Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer I to design and build high-reliability systems that manage security certificates and configurations at scale.

You will work with Java, Python, C++, and Bash in Linux/Unix environments, using Spring Boot for backend services and Angular for front-end work. You will collaborate with multiple teams to deploy new components, optimize performance, and apply sound development practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, C++, or Bash in Linux/Unix environments is expected.
• Hands-on experience with Spring and Spring Boot for backend applications.
• Hands-on experience with Angular for front-end development solutions.
• Understanding of Terraform and infrastructure-as-code concepts.
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases through projects.

As a Software Engineer I, you'll work on high-reliability/high-throughput systems that manage our customer's security certificates and configurations. Our team provides support to several other teams at Akamai who require secure delivery. Our work centers around building systems which operate at large scale, with high resilience and performance.

As a Software Engineer I, you will be responsible for:

• Designing and developing systems capable of handling tens of thousands of concurrent operations

• Developing software to make efficient use of Relational Database Management Systems and NoSQL databases

• Creating new features from scratch, enhancing existing features and optimizing existing functionality

• Following good development methodology, including collaboration with testing and SQA departments to successfully deploy new system components

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field

• Possess academic or project-based training in Java and familiarity with Python, C++, or Bash in Linux/Unix environments

• Have hands-on project experience with Spring and Spring Boot frameworks for building scalable backend applications

• Have hands-on project experience with UI technologies through academic or practical project experience using Angular for front-end development solutions.

• Demonstrate foundational understanding or project coursework in Terraform.

• Demonstrate understanding of SQL, relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres), and NoSQL databases (e.g., Elasticsearch, Cassandra) through projects.

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $75,700 - $136,300/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
