Job summary

Siemens Mobility is seeking a Software Engineer in Pittsburgh, PA to design, implement, and maintain high-quality software. You will work with developers, testers, and integration teams to ensure robust product delivery and participate in Agile planning and reviews.

You will mentor junior developers, manage work packages, and communicate complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences, while contributing to a global, 24/7 on-call support model.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong experience building and supporting PTC solutions.
  • Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and OO design principles.
  • Knowledge of multi-threading, distributed computing, and microservices architecture.
  • Experience working in Unix/Linux environments.
  • Scripting with Bash and Python; Docker experience is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and collaboration skills for a global team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, enhance, and release high-quality software that meets functionality, usability, reliability, performance, and supportability requirements.
  • Collaborate with developers, testing and integration teams to manage dependencies and ensure product integration.
  • Review and inspect software designs, specifications, architecture, and code to maintain quality.
  • Contribute to Agile processes: planning, estimation, task breakdown, progress tracking, risk identification, status reporting.
  • Develop and maintain design and user documentation for software lifecycle activities.
  • Mentor junior developers and foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
  • Create and manage work packages for development teams with clear priorities and executable tasks.
  • Identify opportunities to improve development processes for productivity and quality.
  • Work across multiple technologies including C++, C, and control systems to support objectives.
  • Participate in 24/7/365 on-call rotation to provide emergency support and troubleshoot issues.
  • Engage with customers to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

As a Software Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high-quality software. You’ll collaborate with other developers, participate in code reviews, and ensure adherence to project requirements. What Your Day May Look Like:

  • Engage directly with customers through in-person and remote interactions, clearly communicating technical concepts, solutions, and issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.

What Will Make You Successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong experience building and supporting PTC solutions.
  • Solid understanding of software algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented design principles.
  • Knowledge of multi-threading, distributed computing, and microservices architecture.
  • Experience working in Unix/Linux operating system environments.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash and Python; Docker experience is a plus.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present ideas, share knowledge, and influence stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment.

The pay range for this position is $102,102.00 - $137,802.00 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
