Job summary

Artifintech is seeking a Software Engineer in Newark, NJ to design, build, test, deploy, and support scalable software applications and services. The role requires experience in Python and Java, REST APIs, microservices, databases, cloud platforms, Linux, Docker, and CI/CD.

The engineer will collaborate with product, business, quality, and data teams to translate requirements into reliable solutions while adhering to SOLID, testing, and Agile practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience developing REST APIs and working with Spring Boot or a comparable application framework.
• Familiarity with one relational and one NoSQL database.
• Familiarity with Git, Linux, software testing, Agile delivery, and SDLC.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services, REST APIs, and modular or microservice-based applications using Python and/or Java.
• Design data access layers and integrations for PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, or comparable databases.
• Write clean, maintainable, testable code using object-oriented design, SOLID principles, defensive validation, and proper error handling.
• Create unit and integration tests; participate in code reviews, defect resolution, release readiness, and production support.
• Containerize and deploy applications using Docker and CI/CD pipelines across cloud or Linux environments.
• Use Git, Maven, Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman, and Jira to support development, documentation, testing, and delivery tracking.
• Collaborate within Agile/Scrum teams and communicate technical tradeoffs, delivery risks, dependencies, and progress.
