Job summary

Abacus is hiring a full stack engineer to work with the CTO on the core Abacus engine. The role is backend-weighted, focused on data infrastructure, services, and integrations that turn financial information into trustworthy data for clients.

You will own problems end to end and contribute to architecture rather than merely executing tickets. The ideal candidate has strong backend fundamentals, frontend capability to ship features, and clear communication to explain tradeoffs.

Qualifications

• Strong backend fundamentals—data modeling, APIs, services, and the judgment to know when a system should be built well rather than built now.
• Full stack range, with frontend ability to take a feature from schema to something a client can actually use.
• Strong written and verbal communication; clear explanation of technical tradeoffs to non-engineers.
• Previous experience in fintech, wealth management, financial data, or B2B SaaS is beneficial.

Role Description

We're hiring a full stack engineer to work directly with our CTO on the core Abacus engine. The work is weighted toward the backend — the data infrastructure, services, and integrations that turn messy financial information into something clients can trust — but you'll carry features all the way to the interface. This is a small team building a real product for demanding users, so you'll own problems end to end rather than tickets, and you'll have a hand in the architecture rather than inheriting it.

• Full stack range, with the frontend ability to take a feature from schema to something a client can actually use
• Comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward shipping; you'll be defining the approach as often as executing one
• Care for correctness and security, given the sensitivity of the data we handle
• Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain technical tradeoffs clearly to non-engineers
• Previous experience in fintech, wealth management, financial data, or B2B SaaS is beneficial
