Job summary

Position Summary

The Software Engineer will be part of a team that creates and implements technology used by Light & Wonder to support internal products and customer-centered innovation. The position holder will design, develop, test, and integrate software products alongside a global team of engineers.

Essential Job Functions

• Work with a team to develop innovative features and functionality for Light & Wonder products, utilities, and tools
• Research new technologies to modernize and elevate existing Light & Wonder products
• Refactor, improve, and optimize existing code base
• Design and build libraries that will be shared with other Light & Wonder products
• Adopt best coding practices such as secure coding guidelines, test-driven development, and continuous integration workflow
• Provide prompt resolution to bugs/issues using debugging skills

Qualifications / Training Experience

• Gaming industry experience is preferred but not required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrable knowledge of C# and C++
• Knowledge of client-server architecture fundamentals
• Demonstrable knowledge of object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts and principles
• Familiarity with database architecture
• Comfort with software development tools such as IDEs/compilers, debuggers, profilers, and version control systems
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Excellent teamwork skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrable knowledge of SQL query writing
• Familiarity with web UI design
• Knowledge of operating system fundamentals
• Knowledge of PowerShell
• Familiarity with development tools such as Visual Studio, Perforce, Git, Jira, etc.

Education

• University (4 years) degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
