Job summary

The Swift Group and Subsidiaries is seeking a Software Engineer to join a highly motivated team in Herndon, VA. The role covers development, enhancement, integration, testing and deployment of software applications, including cloud environments.

Responsibilities include bug fixes, GUI improvements, coding for new requirements, API design, REST services, and ensuring modular, maintainable code. The team collaborates with the configuration manager, performs multi-level testing, and tracks software

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering experience in the last 5 years.
• Experience across multiple technologies including .NET, Java, JavaScript, Python, and SQL.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field; US citizenship with TS/SCI with Polygraph preferred.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join a highly motivated team in Herndon, VA. Supporting the development, enhancement, integration, testing, and deployment of software applications to meet operational requirements, including applications running in cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide bug fixes, enhancements, and graphical user interface (GUI) improvements to applications to meet operational requirements
• Develop and modify application source code in response to new requirements and change requests
• Develop and deploy software, including in cloud environments
• Integrate externally developed code into core libraries
• Install and configure application software
• Evaluate third-party vendors and software partners
• Design and develop Representational State Transfer (REST) application programming interfaces (APIs)
• Maintain software library designs, including module APIs, code organization, and coding-standard compliance, emphasizing modularity, reuse, clean subsystem interfaces, and design integrity
• Coordinate with the configuration manager to integrate externally developed software into core software libraries
• Develop software for Sponsor networks, including, as assigned, libraries for audio/video, image processing algorithms, operating systems and file systems, and device drivers
• Assist the Sponsor in developing standards, methods, and procedures to determine product quality and release readiness
• Conduct testing at all levels of the software development lifecycle, including regression testing, while following strict testing procedures
• Provide software availability and reliability metrics during monthly status reviews.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of software engineering experience within the last 5 years
• Demonstrated experience in at least 3 of the following: .NET, Visual Basic, Java, JavaScript, Tomcat, SQL, XML, Python, HTML, LDAP certificates, Apache, and Ruby
• Collectively, the team must demonstrate experience across all of the technologies listed above
• Demonstrated experience with full-lifecycle Agile software development projects
• Demonstrated experience with software issue-tracking tools such as JIRA
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, or another related scientific or technical discipline
• US citizenship with an active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance

Desired Experience

• Developing Android applications
• Designing, developing, and maintaining applications within AWS/Sponsor cloud computing services
• Working knowledge of GIS software, including Google Maps and Google Earth
• Continuous software development and software integration best practices
• Working with INFOSEC and Information Assurance (IA) policies such as ICD 503 to ensure system security and data integrity
• Deploying the complete DevOps lifecycle, including build-pipeline integration, automated deployments, and compliance scanning using test-driven development

Pay Range: $49,996.80 - $290,004.00

Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several different factors including, but not limited to: level of position, complexity of job responsibilities, geographic location, work experience, education, certifications, Federal Government contract labor categories, and contract wage rates.
