Job summary

FlightSafety International in Hazelwood, MO is seeking a Software Engineer to develop and support the Display Management System (DMS) used in flight simulators. You will work on real-time simulation aspects, display measurement, and algorithm development alongside a multi-disciplinary team.

You will contribute to requirements, design, coding, testing, and documentation, collaborating with hardware partners and other engineers to deliver robust software for critical training systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathmatics or other applicable technical field; and two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A strong background in software development and real-time systems is required.
• Experience with C# and .NET in a hardware-oriented environment is preferred.

Purpose of Position

Responsible for developing software for simulator systems. Application areas include real time simulation; simulation of aircraft systems, navigation, aircraft dynamics; simulator interoperability; simulation software integration with OEM software; simulator software system design; computer systems and information security. Intermediate Level; continuing development level. Performs more varied and difficult aspects of the job; may need guidance on job duties; apply learning to recommend options to address unusual situations.

Tasks and Responsibilities

In this position, you will support our Display Management System (DMS) C# .NET application. DMS creates seamless, immersive, multi-display visual experiences for pilots in flight simulators. The DMS team tackles a wide range of challenges involving display system measurement, algorithm development, and embedded device control. This job is primarily a support role for production systems, but you will work directly with the development team to incorporate product improvements

DMS engineers get hands on experience with a variety of hardware including state-of-the-art projectors, cameras, spectrometers, and night vision goggles. Projects span image and signal processing, machine vision, process control, automation, and interface design. We draw on many fields of knowledge including optics, vision science, and photography, in addition to traditional software fundamentals.

The team is agile and multi-disciplinary. The position incorporates all facets of software development from requirements assessment, design, development, testing, integration, peer review, documentation, maintenance, and end user support.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathmatics or other applicable technical field; and two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Experience

2+ years of related experience in software engineering preferred.
