Hewlett Packard Enterprise seeks a Software Engineer in Fort Collins, CO. This role is hybrid, requiring about two office days weekly to collaborate on the Alletra Enterprise Storage Platform. You will design and develop software across storage services and data paths, using modern C++ on Linux.

You will work with performance profiling, distributed systems concepts, and cross-team reviews to build scalable, reliable storage features while mentoring peers and driving quality improvements.

Job Description:

_ Job Family Definition: _

Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools. Determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design.

_ Management Level Definition: _

Contributions impact technical components of HPE products, solutions, or services regularly and sustainable. Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Provides expertise and partnership to functional and technical project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. Exercises significant independent judgment to determine best method for achieving objectives. May provide team leadership and mentoring to others.

_ Responsibilities: _

• Design and develop software for the HPE Alletra Enterprise Storage Platform, including storage services, data path components, and systems infrastructure.
• Implement scalable and highly concurrent solutions using modern C++ in Linux environments.
• Investigate, debug, and resolve functional, reliability, and performance issues using profiling and diagnostic tools.
• Contribute to the design of distributed storage features with a focus on availability, data integrity, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with engineering teams across software, performance, platform, and quality engineering to deliver robust product features.
• Participate in design, code, and test reviews to ensure maintainable, high-quality software.
• Develop automated tests and validation frameworks to improve product quality and release confidence.
• Evaluate and integrate new technologies and approaches that enhance storage capabilities and engineering productivity.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to technical discussions and knowledge sharing within the team.

_ Education and Experience Required: _

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• Typically 6-10 years experience.

_ Knowledge and Skills: _

• Extensive experience with multiple software systems design tools and languages.-
• C++ coding – STL, boost, Templates, basic C++, OOP concepts, Python
• Systems/Distributed/embedded systems
• Linux operating system – understanding of OS, CPU/memory/system architecture
• Multithreaded programming
• Algorithms/Data structures, Experience writing performant code, Debugging/profiling tools like – GDB, perf etc
• Any experience with File systems, Storage, data path work or any experience building systems infrastructure code is a huge plus. Any knowledge of Kubernetes is a big plus
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in overall architecture of software systems for products and solutions.
• Designing and integrating software systems running on multiple platform types into overall architecture.
• Evaluating forms and processes for software systems testing and methodology, including writing and execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language. Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at senior management levels.
