Job summary

SCCI seeks a Software Engineer to join a rapid acquisition program supporting a tactical weapons system at Dahlgren, VA. You will work with customers and end-users to develop requirements and contribute to software that meets military standards.

Collaborate across Information Assurance, Engineering, Testing, Configuration Management, Training, and Safety to clarify intent, identify problems, and document final solutions. Proficiency in C++, C#, Java, or Python and GUI design tools is desired.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 2 years of software engineering experience.
• 2 years of software development in C++, C#, Java, or Python.
• Experience designing GUIs using tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, Sketch, Framer.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and take initiative.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with multiple technical teams (IA, Engineering, Testing, Configuration Management, Training) in an agile framework.
• Code weapon controls and integrate new technologies for current and future baselines.
• Propose and demonstrate approaches aligned with military standards and specs.
• Manage multiple projects and communicate progress with the integrated team.
• Debug and perform root cause analysis for system anomalies in fielded and development systems.
• Adhere to prescribed configuration management for all coding.

Overview

SCCI is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team in support of a highly functioning rapid acquisition program. Working closely with the customer and end-users to develop requirements and participate in building the software associated with a tactical weapons system, this position is expected to apply robust software engineering processes. It will interface with other engineering functional areas (i.e. Systems Engineering, Test, Configuration Management, Training, and Safety) and technical personnel from various external organizations to clarify program intent, identify problems, suggest changes, and develop and document final solutions. This position is located in Dahlgren, VA.

Responsibilities

• Working collaboratively with multiple technical teams (Information Assurance, Engineering, Testing, Configuration Management, Training) in a rapid development framework using an agile approach

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret Security Clearance
• Must have a Bachelor's degree from a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited in one of the following fields: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering; or A Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following fields of study: Mathematics, or Computer Science or Physics
• Two (2) years of full-time professional experience in Software Engineering supporting system development, modeling, and/or simulation
• Two (2) years of software development experience in at least one of the following languages: C++, C#, Java, Python
• Experience with designing GUIs using software tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, Sketch, Framer
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and take initiative

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience writing front end software for Windows and Android a plus
• Experience developing desktop applications using Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) a plus
• Experience working with PAR Government Tactical Assault Kit/Team Awareness Kit (TAK) Mapping Products (ATAK, WinTAK, VTAK) a plus
• Familiarity with Software Source Control Products: Team Foundation Server (TFS), Git, or Bitbucket
• Passion for delivering high quality software with a great user experience
