Job summary

Realtor.com is seeking a software engineer in Austin to design, build, and maintain features that power our real estate decision tools for professionals and consumers. You’ll collaborate with Product Owners to refine user stories and ensure acceptance criteria are met while delivering reliable, cloud-based solutions.

You will work with Node.js, Python, TypeScript, Java, Elasticsearch, and AWS in a fast-paced Agile/Scrum environment to accelerate product delivery and improve search experiences

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of development experience building scalable backend systems.
• Experience delivering high-quality, production-grade applications.
• Familiarity with AWS, microservices, and modern web stacks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deliver, and maintain features for real estate decisions for professionals and consumers.
• Collaborate with Product Owners on user stories, acceptance criteria, and the definition of done.
• Develop scalable, cloud-based, reliable solutions.
• Design and operate search pipelines using AWS-based data architectures.
• Work with technologies such as AWS, Microservices, Docker, Elasticsearch, Jenkins CI/CD, Node.js, and Python.
• Optimize developer toolchains and automate deployment to reduce friction.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum teams to plan and execute at high velocity and reuse components across teams.
• Prototype technologies to meet business goals and customer needs.
• Contribute to process improvements for timely, high-quality deliverables.
• Operate in a product development process that is Agile/Scrum.

What You’ll Do:

• Design, develop, deliver, and maintain features and applications that enable real estate decisions for professionals and consumers.

• Collaborate with key stakeholders on the company’s Search solution – including Product Owners regarding user stories, acceptance criteria, the definition of done, and other program-related decisions.

• Develop solutions that are of high quality, scalable, cloud-based, reliable, and reusable

• Design and operationalize Search pipelines using advanced data architectures deployed on Amazon Web Services.

• A few examples of technologies we work with on a daily basis: AWS technologies, Microservices architecture, Docker containers, Elasticsearch, Jenkins CI/CD, Node.js, and Python.

• Optimize our developer toolchain to support instant provisioning of new services and infrastructure, fully automate deployment, and minimize development friction.

• Work collaboratively in an Agile/Scrum team to plan and execute at high velocity, and across teams throughout the organization to reuse existing components and architect shared functionality

• Investigate and prototype technologies that can be leveraged to introduce new innovations in meeting business and customer goals

• Participate in process improvement initiatives to improve the quality and timeliness of deliverables with high predictability

• Work in a product development process that is primarily Agile/Scrum

What You’ll Bring:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field, or equivalent professional experience

• 2+ years experience in development – you can understand and build flexible and scalable backend systems to meet the emerging needs of the business.

• Building complex, robust, and highly scalable production applications.

• Experience with Node.js, Python, Typescript, Java. Elasticsearch is a bonus.

• Strong engineering and quality mindset.

• Delivering high value to customers quickly, frequently, with regular feedback and support
