Job summary

Atmosphere TV is seeking a motivated Software Engineer to join our team focused on out-of-home content delivery technology. You will design and implement features across our stack, collaborating with product, design, and other teams to deliver reliable software for TV and mobile clients and backends.

You should enjoy solving hard problems, staying curious, and improving performance and reliability. This on-site role is in Austin, TX, with availability to be in-office 4-5 days a week.

Qualifications

• CS degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience building customer-facing software products.
• Strong CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Experience with full-stack development and understanding interactions between components.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement features across our technology stack (TV and mobile clients, backends/APIs, web interfaces).
• Work cross-functionally with product, design, and other teams to deliver reliable software solutions.
• Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with engineers to improve performance, reliability, and scale.
• Design features with a full-stack perspective and understand system interactions.

About the role

We’re currently looking for a motivated Software Engineer to join our engineering team focused on our cutting edge out-of-home content delivery technology. From content encoding and custom hardware development to advertising demand acquisition and customer interfaces – we build the technology stack that streams content to 65k+ businesses across the planet to over 150 million monthly viewers. If you’re the right candidate, you typically seek out challenges and are motivated to solve customer-centric problems with novel technology solutions. It's important that this person is able to efficiently work with the team to ensure we have high implementation quality, strong engineering culture, and a quality mindset. The individual should bring a passion for building fantastic solutions and be willing to play a variety of roles as emergent demands drive the next opportunities for the team.

This position will report to the Engineering Lead, and is on-site in Austin, TX! Availability to be in-office 4-5 days a week is required.

What you'll do

• Treat AI as a core part of how you ship.
• Be motivated, naturally curious, and enjoy solving new problems alongside other engineers.
• Design and implement features across our technology stack (TV and mobile clients, backends/APIs, web interfaces, etc.)
• Work cross-functionally with product, design, and other teams to deliver reliable software solutions to business problems
• Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and participate in code reviews
• Collaborate with other engineers and figure out how to make us better/faster/stronger
• Design and implement features with a full-stack perspective, understanding the dependencies and interactions between different parts of the system.

Qualifications

• Bias towards simplicity
• Computer Science degree or equivalent practical experience
• 3+ years of experience building customer-facing software products
• Strong computer science fundamentals including system design, data structures, and algorithms
• Experience with full-stack development and a deep understanding of how different components of a system interact
• Demonstrated daily use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar)

Nice to Haves:

• Experience building backend applications using TypeScript/NestJS, PHP/Laravel or similar frameworks
• Experience developing native applications for TV (tvOS / Android TV) and/or mobile (iOS / Android) platforms using Kotlin, Java, or Swift
• Familiar with key video technologies: codecs (H.264, H.265, AV1), streaming protocols (HLS, DASH), cloud-based video platforms (e.g., AWS Elemental), and ad insertion techniques like SSAI/CSAI
• Experienced in cloud-native services, especially AWS ECS Fargate and Lambda
• Experience with modern frontend technologies (Vue3, Tailwind)
