D24 Search Limited is seeking a backend-leaning software engineer to build and run production cloud and distributed systems. You will work with Python and TypeScript, owning services from design through deployment, ideally on AWS, with a hybrid work model in Alameda, CA.
The role emphasizes ownership of production APIs, real-time data processing, and collaboration across multiple repos. Experience with telemetry, sensor or geospatial data is a plus.
My client is Series D maritime defense company backed by over $325m in funding from top tier investors with a relentless passion for performance. Built to operate in the world’s harshest environments, their autonomous systems deliver payload effects and persistent, wide-area intelligence, enabling informed decisions across the spectrum of defense missions.
Harnessing AI, advanced sensor suites, and renewable power for unmatched endurance at sea, the company delivers superior multi-domain impact—from power projection to persistent ISR to real-time threat detection and tracking—while reducing cost and risk. With proven operational success across the world’s oceans, they is advancing the frontier of autonomous maritime operations to give decision-makers and warfighters the enduring advantage to outpace adversaries today and build tomorrow’s most decisive capabilities.
We need a backend-leaning engineer with about 4–8 years of experience building and running production cloud and distributed systems. You must be strong in both Python and TypeScript, not just one of them. You should be comfortable working in an existing legacy codebase, debugging and making changes across several repos without much hand-holding. You should also have a track record of owning production services and APIs from design through deployment and operation, ideally on AWS. Bonus points if you've worked with real-time or streaming data, or with telemetry, sensor or geospatial data from robotics, autonomous vehicles, IoT, aerospace or defense systems.
This is a mid-level role on a new Fleet Engineering team. It is called full stack, but about 80–90% of the work is platform and APIs. The front end is a small part of the job. More senior engineers with the right hands-on skills are also welcome.
