Job summary

Amazon S3 Tables seeks an experienced engineering leader to scale systems and services in a massive cloud environment. You will collaborate with cross-disciplinary Amazonians to shape product directions, drive architecture, and deliver durable, maintainable software in an agile setting.

You will guide teams across design, prototyping, and implementation, balancing speed with reliability while mentoring engineers and aligning with PMs on strategy.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience.
• 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams
• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.
• Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry.
• Investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility.
• Define engineering roadmap and drive architectural simplification to ensureDurability, Availability and Maintainability
• Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.
• Create and nurture a team culture that allows individuals to perform at their best, while solving complex problems and delivering solutions that delight our customers.
