Job summary

True Value, part of the Do it Best Group, is seeking a Manager of Software Development in Fort Wayne, IN. You will lead a team of ~10 engineers, drive technical excellence, and balance speed with quality to deliver strategic software solutions.

You will be a technical leader and people manager, enabling growth, fostering innovation, and aligning efforts with business objectives in a collaborative, fast-paced retail tech setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of experience managing or leading software engineering teams.
• Proven ability to lead teams through complex technical projects from inception to delivery.
• Strong understanding of modern software development practices, including delivery frameworks, DevOps, and cloud-based architectures.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of software engineers, providing feedback and growth guidance.
• Foster an inclusive, collaborative, growth-oriented team culture.
• Oversee end-to-end software development lifecycle from design to deployment and maintenance.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Design, and QA to ensure timely software releases.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance, code reviews, and architecture oversight as needed.
• Drive continuous improvement in development processes, tools, and workflows.
• Communicate progress and solutions to technical and non-technical audiences.
