Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Seattle is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead a team focused on Nitro Linux and related OS features, enabling trusted computing and secure data processing at scale.

You will guide engineering teams through strategic planning, design, and deployment, ensuring high-quality software while mentoring engineers and coordinating with product management and leadership across AWS. The role emphasizes ownership and customer-focused delivery.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience.
• 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Amazon Web Service’s EC2 organization is responsible for the backbone and infrastructure that provide scalable compute and storage to business’ of all sizes.

As part of AWS, we work on global-scale compute platforms, with special focus on Nitro data plane software development for AWS EC2 responsible for software associated with performance characterization, qualification, build and deployment of Linux platforms. As a part of the EC2 Instance Platforms organization, we invent, own, and drive the building blocks that are the foundation of the cloud.

We are looking for a passionate and innovative Software Development Manager that will work on AWS focus on Nitro Linux and SW development. Your team will own and implement a challenging and enthusiastic vision on trusted computing and Nitro OS features that will allow customers to process highly sensitive data in a secure environment.

We are looking for truly innovative and thoughtful leader having an established background in delivering customer-facing solutions, strong technical skills, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment. You are a strong leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly and compellingly and who understands how to drive a high level of focus and excellence within a team.

Responsibilities include direct management of diverse team of software engineers, strategic planning, product definition, managing operational challenges at scale, project management for software within the team, and quality of the software development process. Additionally, as our organization is growing, hiring top-notch engineers will be a key focus.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Basic Qualifications
