Job summary

NISC is seeking a Software Engineer to collaborate with a team and contribute to the development and maintenance of our enterprise software solutions for utilities and broadband providers. This role reports to a Software Engineering Team Lead and supports multiple product areas in a hybrid work model.

Responsibilities include researching and implementing software solutions, following development methodologies, and performing testing.

Qualifications

Strong customer orientation
Familiar with Object Oriented Concepts & Languages (Java and its frameworks, preferred)
Familiar with HTML/CSS/SCSS and enterprise design patterns
Familiar with relational and non-relational databases (Postgres, Oracle, MongoDB, Cassandra)
Familiar with Linux and Windows
Familiar with cloud technologies (AWS)
Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and in a team
Ability to adapt to change
Ability to interact professionally with internal and external contacts

Responsibilities

Performs basic research, design and development of software systems.
Resolves basic software maintenance issues.
Assists in maintenance of NISC’s software applications within the Application Development Division.
Follows established software development methodologies and procedures.
Performs unit and system integration testing as assigned.
Reviews and prioritizes change requests.
Ensures information is entered in Confluence and the iVUE Support tool.
