Job summary

Billennium seeks an experienced Senior SDET to join a long-term healthcare project. This role focuses on transforming QA toward automation-first practices, building scalable testing frameworks, and shaping architecture, CI/CD processes, and testability across the organization.

The engineer will work on API, integration, and contract testing, reduce flaky tests, and contribute to product code while collaborating with developers. Strong TypeScript and English proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• Commercial experience as a Senior SDET or similar role
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and ability to write production-grade code
• Strong TypeScript skills or comparable modern language
• Experience building automation frameworks from scratch
• Hands-on experience with Playwright or equivalent
• Strong API and integration testing experience
• Experience with REST and contract testing
• CI/CD engineering including quality gates and artifact management
• Daily usage of AI engineering tools such as Claude, Copilot, Cursor
• Ability to contribute directly to the application codebase
• Strong spoken and written English

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain a scalable test automation framework in TypeScript
• Create framework architecture with fixtures, test isolation, reusable components, and parallel execution
• Improve CI/CD quality gates, trigger strategies, artifact management, and developer feedback loops
• Reduce test flakiness through tooling and framework improvements
• Design and implement API, integration, and contract testing solutions
• Collaborate with developers to improve testability and contribute to product code
• Define and drive technical test strategy across E2E, API, and service-layer testing

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) who will join a long-term project for our client, a leading healthcare organization.

This role is part of a broader transformation from traditional QA towards an automation-first engineering culture. Today, the testing landscape includes flaky regression suites and a large amount of manual testing. Your mission will be to help build a scalable quality engineering practice based on robust automation, modern tooling, and strong software engineering principles.

This is not a role for someone who only writes UI tests. We are looking for an engineer who treats test automation as a software product and wants to influence architecture, CI/CD processes, testability, and engineering standards across the organization.

What you will do:

• Design, build, and maintain a scalable test automation framework in TypeScript
• Create framework architecture including fixtures, test isolation, reusable components, and parallel execution strategies
• Improve CI/CD quality gates, trigger strategies, artifact management, and developer feedback loops
• Reduce test flakiness through systematic analysis, tooling, and framework improvements
• Design and implement API, integration, and contract testing solutions
• Collaborate with developers to improve application testability and contribute directly to product code when needed

• Use AI engineering tools such as Claude, Copilot, and similar solutions to accelerate delivery and quality analysis
• Enable engineering teams to own quality through standards, patterns, and reusable libraries

What we are looking for:

• Commercial experience as a Senior SDET, Senior QA Automation Engineer, or similar role
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and ability to write production-grade code
• Strong TypeScript skills or comparable experience with a modern programming language
• Experience building and maintaining automation frameworks from scratch
• Hands-on experience with Playwright or equivalent modern automation frameworks
• Strong API and integration testing experience
• Experience with REST and contract testing
• CI/CD engineering experience including quality gates, artifact management, and pipeline reliability
• Daily usage of AI engineering tools such as Claude, Copilot, or Cursor
• Ability to contribute directly to the application codebase
• Strong spoken and written English

Nice to have:

• Experience within regulated environments such as medical devices, IVD, healthcare, or pharma
• Knowledge of risk-based exploratory testing approaches
• Performance and load testing experience (k6, JMeter, Gatling)
• Experience with Azure, AWS, containers, or Infrastructure as Code
• Clinical laboratory or IVD domain knowledge
• Experience with Allure TestOps, Xray, or Zephyr
