Job summary

KellyMitchell is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join a leading technology provider. The role focuses on building scalable automated frameworks with Playwright and TypeScript/JavaScript, and integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines.

You will design comprehensive test strategies and collaborate across product, development and QA teams. The position offers contract work in Newport Beach, CA with hybrid onsite expectations and competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of QA Automation or SDET experience.
• Hands-on with Playwright and TS/JS.
• Experience building automated testing frameworks from scratch.
• Knowledge of API testing, OAuth2, JWT, and web app architecture.
• Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of test data management, mocking, and service virtualization.
• Strong debugging skills using logs and browser tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks using Playwright with TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Build reusable testing utilities and libraries supporting authentication, API integrations, pagination, rate limiting, error handling, and other platform capabilities.
• Define and execute test strategies covering unit, integration, contract, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Develop comprehensive positive, negative, edge-case, and resiliency test scenarios.
• Manage test data, fixtures, environment provisioning, and synthetic datasets to ensure reliable and repeatable test execution.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps.
• Analyze test results, troubleshoot failures, identify root causes, and collaborate with development, product, and QA teams to improve software quality.

Our client, a leading technology provider, is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join their team. This position is W-2 only. We do not work with third-party firms or C2C arrangements for this role.

Contract Details

Contract work Location: Newport Beach, CA

Core Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks using Playwright with TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Build reusable testing utilities and libraries supporting authentication, API integrations, pagination, rate limiting, error handling, and other platform capabilities.
• Define and execute test strategies covering unit, integration, contract, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Develop comprehensive positive, negative, edge-case, and resiliency test scenarios.
• Manage test data, fixtures, environment provisioning, and synthetic datasets to ensure reliable and repeatable test execution.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps.
• Analyze test results, troubleshoot failures, identify root causes, and collaborate with development, product, and QA teams to improve software quality.

Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)

• 3+ years of experience in QA Automation or SDET roles
• Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and TypeScript/JavaScript
• Experience building and maintaining automated testing frameworks from the ground up
• Strong understanding of API testing, OAuth2, JWT, and web application architecture
• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD environments
• Knowledge of test data management, mocking, and service virtualization
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills using logs, network traces, browser developer tools, and command-line utilities

Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)

• Experience testing within or around ServiceNow environments
• Exposure to cloud-based platforms and enterprise-scale applications
• Experience working in Agile development environments
• Experience with enterprise-scale test automation initiatives
• Familiarity with advanced API and integration testing strategiesExperience developing testing standards, runbooks, and best-practice documentation

Pay Range

The approximate pay range for this position is between $52.00 and $75.00 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
