Job summary

Tradeweb Markets is seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to design and maintain automated test frameworks for modern web applications in a trading context.

The role requires hands-on engineering, troubleshooting client-side issues, and collaboration with developers, product managers, and DevOps to ensure high-quality software delivery. Strong SQL and Python skills are essential; experience in trading platforms is preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
7+ years of experience in software QA/testing, preferably in financial services or trading systems.
Proven experience as an SDET/QA Automation Engineer.
Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks.
Strong SQL skills for querying databases and validating data.
Strong Python skills for utilities, automation, and data processing.
Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab or Jenkins; proficient with Git.
Linux proficiency for CLI, scripting, and troubleshooting.
Experience with automated testing for UI, API, and regression testing.
Strong analytical, debugging, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for web-based applications.
Create and execute automated functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end test suites.
FIX Protocol knowledge, scripting and automation.
Understand fixed-income products and related calculations and risk measures.
Validate calculations and data accuracy in trading contexts.
Collaborate with engineers, QA, product owners, and DevOps to ensure quality.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/Jenkins).
Work in Linux environments for test execution, scripting, and automation support.
Analyze defects, isolate root causes, and document issues clearly.
Leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate test creation and debugging.
Contribute to improving quality engineering practices and tooling.

Group Details

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with strong test automation experience to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in building and maintaining automated test frameworks for modern web applications.

This role requires a hands‑on engineer who can design robust automation solutions, troubleshoot complex client‑side issues, and work closely with developers, product managers, and DevOps teams to ensure high‑quality software delivery. The candidate should also be comfortable working with SQL and Python for day‑to‑day validation, test data analysis, backend verification, and building utilities that support testing and release processes. Experience in trading platforms or within a financial institution is strongly preferred.

Tradeweb Technology jobs are fully remote. The Tradeweb Technology hub is in our Jersey City office which can be used for team meetings and collaboration efforts. There may be days where travel to the Jersey City office is recommended for organizational off sites.

Job Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for web-based applications.
Create and execute automated functional, regression, integration, and end‑to‑end test suites.

Validate fixed income product calculations, risk calculation and out mathematical outcomes.
Collaborate closely with software engineers, QA, product owners, and DevOps teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI or Jenkins.
Work in Linux‑based environments for test execution, troubleshooting, scripting, and automation support.
Analyze defects, isolate root causes, and provide clear documentation for issues found during testing.
Leverage modern AI‑assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude, GPT, or similar platforms to improve productivity, accelerate test creation, and enhance debugging and analysis workflows.
Contribute to continuous improvement of quality engineering practices, tooling, and automation standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
7+ years of experience in software quality assurance and testing, preferably within financial services or trading systems.
Proven experience as an SDET, QA Automation Engineer, or similar role.
Strong hands‑on experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks.
Strong working knowledge of SQL for querying databases, validating data, and supporting test investigations.
Strong working knowledge of Python for building utilities, automation helpers, test scripts, and data processing tools.
Experience working with CI/CD tools such as GitLab or Jenkins. Well versed with GIT.
Strong working knowledge of the Linux operating system, including command‑line usage, scripting, and troubleshooting.
Experience with automated testing for UI, API, and regression testing.
Strong analytical, debugging, and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in a trading environment, capital markets, or a financial institution.
Experience validating transactional workflows, trade data, reconciliations, and downstream system integrations.
Familiarity with APIs, backend services, and database‑driven application testing.
Understanding of agile development methodologies and modern software delivery practices.
Exposure to performance testing, service virtualization, or API automation is a plus.

The current pay range for this role is currently $130,000 to $180,000 per year, based on a regular, full‑time schedule. The amount of pay offered will be determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to qualifications, market data, and internal guidelines.
This role will also be eligible to participate in Tradeweb’s discretionary bonus program.
This role is expected to remain open until 11/25/26
